Does it have the changes of Sedna's last version?

What's with some civs placing cities in stupid spots: Germany builds Coburg and another city within minimum of Frankfurt. Austria does the same. Bulgaria stupidly places cities, although they are at least spread apart. Was this part of the newest version? The city placement AI really needs to be better because the AI civs are just hurting themselves!

Now about actual city names... Are the cities in Germany, when owned by Francia, renamed properly? I looked up some of the French names for German cities and some are French names of German cities within the area of the captured city.

How come the Germans rename Liubice --> Lübeck when the Norse go --> Kiel? Kiel and Lübeck are separate cities.

Mea culpa; will fix it ASAP.

Hi, I'm a fan of civ maps you do. I'm from Barcelona, capital of Catalonia, currently in Spain. I have read that one of your rules was to put the names of the towns in the native language, however I have seen that certain cities like Valencia, Gerona, Ibiza and Perpignan/Perpiñán are written in Spanish, but the native language of that region is catalan: València, Girona, Eivissa and Perpinyà.

Other areas, like the island of Sardinia and Alghero city (Cerdeña and Alguero in spanish) also have native language is catalan: Sardenya and l'Alguer.

I would really like you saw these links to catalan Wikipedia, you can also see it in the english wikipedia or any other language, you only have to choose yours.:

Catalan lands: http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paisos_Catalans

Crown of Aragón: http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corona_d'Aragó

Catalan language: http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Català

Catalonia: http://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalunya

Thank you very much for reading me, I hope you are interested my in country, "la catalana terra" (the Catalan land), since during part of the middle ages dominated the Mediterranean and despite having been banned and persecuted the Catalan language and identity, the country still has not Catalan disappeared despite belonging to three different states.

Even today Catalunya is the third economic engine of Europe, Barcelona is the largest port in the Mediterranean and the continent and the Catalan language in Europe is the eighth despite not having their own state.

And this is the most beautiful city in the world :P, between the blue mediterranean and the sacred & holy mountain of Montserrat: Barcelona, the Count city http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2e/Pano_Barna.jpg

Edit:
I found this in the English wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Catalonia

When telling that names should be in their native language, we mean in the language of the chosen civ. So, to see names in Catalan, Aragon should be a playable civ (which is another topic :mischief:)
Thanks for your interest :)

Not really, because Catalan is an official language in Spain ... therefore should be respected names in Catalan as language of Spain is also ... The language to which you call spanish really is Castilian, in Spain there are several official languages.

I remember having debated about this something like 2 months ago; the answer was that the names should be at the civ's local language (BTW: when Catalan become an official language of Spain?).

On a sidenote: Since we have many Spaniards interested on this, could one dedicate time to translating the modmod on Spanish?

Self-notice: I will have Spain redone at Sunday evening GMT; plz do not release Alpha 8 before then. :)
EDIT: Sorry, will most probably be Tuesday.
EDIT 2: Thursday, I promise!! (have done 85% of the city mapping)
EDIT 3: Today at 10 AM GMT.

Well, it is 1h and 20min later than promised, but the totally-facelifted-Iberia file is here. I have to say it was the first map edit that proved to be so difficult, since I mostly looked for cities with a different Arabian toponym (BTW I was surprised by how many of the Spanish cities have their names derived from Arabic variants). So, voila! :D

(I will also update the SVN)

Playing for the Norse settling in place gives me Roskilde. Shouldn't it be København? They occupy the same plot.

Also Moscovia having city names like Veliki Novgorod gives a feel like they're Bulgarian or something. More Russian-like name would be Novgorod Velikiy (Новгород Великий)...

No it shouldn't!!! Roskilde was chosen to give a more Vikingish feel, while Kobenhavn a more modern (thats why if you capture Roskilde as Swedes, it turns to Kobenhavn.)

Will fix (Strangely enough the current map was made by a Russian guy)

I apologize then, its location was what confused me. I read the Wikipedia page and there was no mention of Roskilde being a capital of any country, other that it's an ancient city dating from the Viking age. I then compared it with Copenhagen's location (I never wondered before where it exactly is to be honest) and found out it's almost in the same place. So I assumed Roskilde appeared due to a mistake...

BTW, There is a city in Finland (Kouvola), which was founded in 1922. The correct city on that location would Fredrikshamn (if Sweden controls it) or Friedrichshafen (if anybody else controls it), which was founded by Swedes to act as a circular fortress town against the Russians.

I know the history pretty well around there and I could correct these things by myself, if I only knew how..

If it it only that fix, I can do it, but if you are to propose general fixes in the Swedish map, then just follow the instructions in the opening post :)

I didn't get those maps to open with the signals, so I did Finland's cities on an old fashioned way (see the screenshot). I don't know which cities you currently have in the mod, however, these cities have all been founded before 1700, so they fit the timescale extremely well.

BTW, you should change the tile, where the cursor is to forest, since this was one most important invading route to russian troops. After all Nyslott, Tavastehus and Fredrikshamn are all cities that have been formed around a castle. Also the Borga tile on the marsh could be changed for same reasons, not necessary though. :)
