Finished part 1. I missed greek politheism in 2000 bc for two turns. I am a loser...

That was an intense game, this mod is simply awesome, thank you for all the work. I will try now as America, as they did very bad in my game. Arent they supposed to colonize the Iroquois and around? How come they are stucked at 2 cities in whole game with such big free land around :confused:

I dont know why, but a domination at 25% could seem easy. However I feelt like fighting for a conquest, it was long and intense.Specially because the AI is VERY agressive and will attack you every time he feels he can succed. Do I have to move those spearmans from one city to another near? He will attack next turn and dogpile me. Everyone cheats and lies and betrayes. There are no friends in this mod, the world is BARBARIAN. :ar15:

The "clear marsh" must be tweaked, 80 turns may be right, but not FUN at all :suicide:

And also, I remember from the conquest scenario 'the new world", it had one more forbiden palace which would be very usefull in America for the europeans.

I find also that mounted barbarians are too strong for the beginning, I had to reload thousand times because I cant see them coming and they aim ALWAYS for workers. Is there necessary that they have +2 moves so early?

Thank you again :thanx:

They probably just lost a couple wars early on... Losing your third or fourth city can be a crippling occurence with effects lasting throughout the game... Anyways, America is never strong early on, they only become a superpower in the industrial age.

It's not intended to be fun, it's intended to be realistic. All of the changes made to the base rules were made for good reasons, most of these reasons involve faster loading times and/or realism. They often go hand in hand, as for instance having large centers of population in deserts is both unrealistic and adds cities for the game to load, slowing it down. It's just the same with the jungles and marshes... They're supposed to slow down expansion.

As I have found on several occasions when I unashamedly yelled that some feature needs to be changed, you will find that it's your strategy, not the mod, that must change. Simply escort your workers. Have one or two spears guard a few workers in one stack. The quick barbarians in eastern Europe and in asia are historically realistic and realistically slow down the expansion of the civs in this generally wide-open area. They can be overcome without reloading, and in the long run if you're careful enough at the start they do you no harm. Playing as Germany a long time ago at first the barbarians harmed me really badly at the start. So I started a new game, guarded my workers and slowly hunted down the barbs, and ended up conquering a huge portion of the world. The barbs may have cost me a few sweet potential city locations, but I conquered those from the Russians and Austrians later on easily. :)

I dont agree :eek: , there are some 26 mounted barbarians around Moscow who will aim Russia most of the time. Only 6 of them will aim Germany, I tested both. Give a try with Russia if you didnt do it yet and tell me I am wrong. The first barbarians showed up turn 3 and I had still 2 turns to complete my warrior. Then every 2 turns they came and made me crazy. Russia must be tested for this. I can adapt my style but there I could nothing but reload. Those Mbarbs crush my warriors like nothing and I need 60 turns to get warrior code. Russia starts isolated somehow and thats its desavantage for barbs as they come, not having someone else around. Give it a try and see yourself :blush:

I am playing America right now and lost my time due to a bug. I built Great Library (on deity-still AI rate is 8, so not big deal) and sit in my corner and wait....wait...and wait. Nothing showed up, but various messages about wonders in Medieval ages buing built. So I decided to use power bar to see whats going in the moment when Dutch landed and they had all techs I was missing. Through Powerbar I contacted a few rivals and next turn I got all techs up to magnetism, while I was searching construction. Happened already to any of you? I didnt remember you have to have contact with civs for your GL to work. Now I am way behind and I dont feel continue.

First of all, Russia does great when it's played by the AI, and the AI is as we all know full well a very crappy player. If the AI can do it, I'm sure most humans can. But anyhow, not all civs have the same difficulty level. Apparently Russia is not as easy as Germany or, duh, England.
About the Great Library, the way it works is that at the start of any turn when you have it, it gives you any techs that two or more rivals you have contact with already know. This is how it's worked ever since Civ3 went gold. oO

Doh, I didnt know that, never played a map where all powers are packed elsewhere and I am alone with indians :crazyeye:

I wonder how America can survive on high levels, those tecs are going so fast on the otherside, and Statue of Liberty comes so late. Is not about beeing ahead or behind, but about survive. Due to the lack of land to settle, AI is very agressive. How can America defend against Cavalry with pikemans? Anyone finished with America on deity?

I think Russia is the supreme power in human hands. At this moment, AI handle it very bad(in my games). It never had more than 3 towns, and it has space to settle for 10. Those always doing good are Arabia, France, Germany and England.

When I played America on deity, Maya launched some 25 javelins early. Hopefully I got 2 army from defeating Iros. Thats maybe why America is always loosing. Iroquais with tomahwack def+3 and mayas with Javelins(2-2-1) arent too difficult to handle without UU?

I am curious about strategy with America.

Yes, maybe deity level is too hard for playing USA.

But keep it in mind that Rhye's Civ is a very finely tuned game - on emperor level...
Lots of effort was put into it to make it a realistic and yet playable one.

In CIv3 it is not an option to rewrite AI for levels...

Yes, it's best not to play at any difficulty level other than Emperor. If you want a challenge play as a harder civ, such as Zululand.

I have a question on the use of this mod. Can a 5CC game be played using this mod?

@Salamandre
I get it one time on emperor.
I just settle as fast as i can and lived in peace with my neighbors. As the European arrived i was able to sell em my map for good techs. It is also very helpful to get those goody huts. If you´re lucky every second gains you a tech. So i was even able to survive and play a good game as Inca and Maya.

@RGC-Team
I send you my saves of round 3. Is there a possibility that I can get the BIQ files of this fantastic round from you? I want to play mostly the first round without a limit.

I think playing US is one of the easier civs in RoX. Probably put it in the second tier, the first would have civs like England and Russia. You have soooo much wonderful land to expand into, and with some effective blocking you can keep the Iroquois, Mayans, and Aztecs out.

Once you make contact with Europe you can trade with the somewhat behind Euros and eventually get near the top. Once the SoL comes its pretty much all over.

You can have the biq when the contest is over.
For now, you can just keep playing after the disaster.

I intend to set up part 1 as a normal downloadable version of the mod, but Atlantis is currently an incomplete civ so this will require alot of work and testing. I can only get started about a month from now, as I'm flying to Germany with no Civ in just under four hours.
