The proposed rule change:

6.3.2 - Notification of Playing
Immediately after the save has been played and e-mailed to the proper people, the team's designated player must notify the MTDG community by posting in the designated "Turn Tracker" thread.

My feelings would be no; if only to protect CH.

I would strongly vote YES ...

Entries on this thread keep all players alerted to a save being sent and received ...

I find the Tracker thread extremely usefull (the Looking Glass get's updated from this thread's entries) and IMO it is essential, I am currently playing a pbem where a number of players do not follow this protocol and consequently it is constantly held up and staggered ...

The Turn/Tracker thread enables one to easily see the status of the save ... where it is currently located ...

There is no excuse to not post on the Tracker Thread ... and little effort required to do so ...

The amendment now looks like this. I'm sorry for any inconvience:

6.3.2 - Notification of Playing
Immediately after the save has been played and e-mailed to the proper people, the team's designated player must notify the MTDG community by posting in the designated "Turn Tracker" thread.

EDIT - ybbor's on top of things!

I’ll vote yes with mixed feelings – it definitely should be done, but I’m annoyed at Provolution for making this an issue for what seems to be the wrong reasons (revenge for classical hero’s other posts). As far as protecting classical hero, there can’t possibly be penalties applied retroactively. It wasn’t a rule when he forgot, and if it becomes a rule, he will just have to be diligent about it. I’m sure the first offence or two will just be a warning anyway.

Anyway, I also vote we declare war on TNT right now – and I don’t want to hear any lame excuses like we can’t because we haven’t even met them yet. :mischief:

I suggest that ... and no offense to C_H ... and you better not take any either Mr. Prez ! :)

But our abrupt posting style may have been misconstued by the other player ...

The background is that a team was late in posting the save (it should be every 24 hours) and we queried this ...

Then when the broken keyboard excuse (valid IMO) was sort of dismissed in a high moral horse sort of way ... and the topic changed to what penalties should be imposed ... I can understand animosity ...

Then when the same player consequently missed 2 postings on the Tracker Thread ... well rule clarification is sought ...

So I don't really see this as an attack ... maybe just a little bit of a spat :p

my concern about CH is he might forget again.

This amendment is pure evil in the way it was crafted. If anyone (especially us) it looks like we're against the turn tracker thread in general. If we vote yes we have to agree to penalties. The consensus (in the UN forum) seems to be that the turn tracker is necessary, but several people seem to have reservations about inflicting punishment. personally I would like a line inserted about punishment only being necessary in extreme or chronic circumstances.

I think I'm going to vote no.

we could all abstain.

I like the point of a turn tracker.
I don't like it being compolsory (if just to give CH room to forget again)
I dont want to vote no, cause then we look bad.

I'll abstain

Looks like K.I.S.S has already abstained.

I like Meleager's reasoning, and so I too abstain.
For one, I liked Rik's explanation. It is a convenience. At the same time, it is also polite and as fe3333au pointed out, keeps the game progressing smoothly.

I don't know about the amendment being pure evil, but I can understand why there'd be some latent hostility over this.

I will certainly support whichever course of action our Foreign Minister decides upon.

1)I said the way it was crafted was pure evil iot plays with politics.
2)I will take the action. This was in the UN forum, and is for me to vote on. in any case the actual decsion will be made by the players.

Let's take it one step further: Until otherwise decided, we shall be in a state of war with all Barbaroi (non-greeks)! UN is a trojan horse vis-a-vis Greek Sovereignty! ;)

Regarding penalties ... surely that is another issue and will be treated fairly by the administrators ... they are not going to go heavy for penalties because that will mean that many will quit playing ... which defeats the purpose of having fun ...

Personally I think that whoever sends the save on just has to get into the habit of posting a note ... no big drama ... I for one am not going to be regularly checking the mailbox on the off chance that someone may or may not have sent a save on ... it is just protocol for pbem games ... everyone seems to be copeing ... I can't see what the big deal is ...

I personally doubt that there are any hidden agendas regarding penalties and pay back ... we all make and have made mistakes ... this is all about clarification and tweaking the rules nothing else ... lets not get too paranoid guyz

I do like why this amendment came about. This is clearly a case of bad blood by Provo over my comments about the fact that his team did not play the save in time. All I asked was clarifiaction from the Game admin to see if the warning againt team TNT was a general warning, or just specific for that team. Nothing more, nothing less, but Provo at least, I do not think it is the whole team ho took offense at a question that had no malice whatsoever. Surely he could have PMed me about what I was going on about.

BTW, I abstained in the poll.

I shal cast our vote as an abstain.
