Role Play Challenge, The Next Generation: Comrad Chairman.

I see that northeast of Vladivostok, there is a vile capitalist cottage. Burn it to the ground before the city's culture envelops it!

Navrograd? You mean Novgorod?

Lenin was dying on his deathbead and he summoned Joe Stalin so that he could talk with him.

"Comrade Stalin", he said, "I am concerned that after I am gone, the people will not follow you".

"Relax, comrade", Stalin replied.

"If the people do not follow me, they will follow you."

Nyet Nyet, Comrade Budweiser, the only filthy capitilistic western endevour that was actually worth anything (until a nameless European country bought it ).

Comrade Stalin had his moment of glory conquering the entire world from one city of Moscow!

Now it is Comrade Lenin's vision that Soviet people will follow.

But still there is a nasty and vicious rumor, that while Lenin is ruling the people as a Russian, he is in fact secretly a German (or more accurately a Prussian) in Disguise.

It is all this war with Stupid Greek Arabs that has upset Soviet people, Chairman Lenin shall make up to them by endless toil for good of Soviet nation!

Impressive set - 9 cities by 175 AD! I definitely see your point on the copper now. Way too often I idealize long-term city placement over immediate gains, but at this point who cares if 1 of 9 cities is slightly less powerful? Comrade Lenin the Chairman will most assuredly lead the powerful Russian people to the forefront of the international proletariat. The animals that walk on two legs, so to speak...

But back to the here and now, what do the strong Soviet people want of such trifles as knowledge of archaic and oppressive ruling systems? It would be an abomination to impose such a system upon the glorious state. No, the soviets will find their happiness in rightly-earned rewards of fine clothing, warm hats, and decorative metals!

(Go for calendar, and when a few courthouses are up, settle the Gold/Floodplains/(corn? just outside the pic) and a fur/deer back-filler for happiness)

I think Soviet people need some additional happiness, do we research calander for silk plantations or construction for collesium? Use Soviets are very proud of our sports abilities!

Little Mayan man from China will trade us Monarchy for Currency, do we take?

We do, Comrade Chairman, as it will rise happiness of Soviet People immediately.

We do, Comrade Chairman, as it will rise happiness of Soviet People immediately.

Comrade, the Soviet people do not support usch thing as Monarchy.

Comrade Chairman: The Soviet Strike and The Second Greek Arab war

Comrades, the Soviet Union needs all of your help! By end the Great Russian workers are on strike threatening the mighty Soviet Empire. Much needs to be done!

First, we decide to make trade with Mayan boy-king

LeninD0000.jpg

While we need no king, the tech is required for more advanced knowledge!

Our techpath here went: Calanedar/Construction/Metal Casting/Machinery/start Civil Service.

Our lack of happiness and commerce is a concern, so we notice in jungle due north many commerce/happiness producing resources.

LeninD0001.jpg

Ah, we shall claim them for our own!

The Nikolas Capernicus arives

LeninD0002.jpg

we build another wonderfull Soviet Academy in Rostov.

And as out funds begin to shrink, we make trade

LeninD0003.jpg

Monotheism is a useless tech but Mayan Chinese boy-king insist we take, so we take.

We also make trade with nice lady

LeninD0004.jpg

So we have a treasury again, so we decide to move against Stupid Greek Arabs.

LeninD0005.jpg

LeninD0006.jpg

We then make a call on Stupid Alexander

LeninD0007.jpg

WHAT!!?? You no talk to Mighty Soviet Chairman. How we make official-like declaration of war!

Never mind, we improvise

LeninD0008.jpg

In the meantime Soviet Capital of Moscow continues to pour out settlers, claiming those northern Jungle regions and

LeninD0009.jpg

Our fellow party leaders are growing concerned about the dismal Soviet economy and complain about addition mouthes to feed. What of it, Soviet people shall RULE and we claim ALL land!

Now, regarding stupid Greek Arabs.

LeninD0011.jpg

That one city so far!

And we finally research a valuable tech

LeninD0012.jpg

Ah, windmills and watermills. Good, Good just what we need for more Soviet production!

We captured the Capital of Mecca which we rename, as well as last Greek Arab southern city.

LeninD0013.jpg

At this point, Superior Soviet Military complains about being paid and refusing to fight anymore, we decide perhaps we need a break

LeninD0014.jpg

Stupid Greek Arab still have enough cities to prevent us destroying them!

We then change civics and see what Soviet income is at 100% gold

LeninD0015.jpg

We have 5 cities with Academy, time to run many scientists from them!

And while we change civics we find Some world wonder has made official proclaimation

LeninD0016.jpg

We abstain having no need for such nonesense!

And Moscow continues to pump out many settlers, much to the concerns of Soviet Communist Party.

LeninD0017.jpg

Now we are faced with -47 gold at 100% gold slider which is a concern as Stupid Greek will attack if all Soviet army goes home.

So we use the mighty Soviet workers to help out

LeninD0018.jpg

This is not optimal as we need those cities to utilize the academies, but desperate times require desperate means.

SO we build more Courthouses and the Forbidden Palace and hope we can increase slider and continue building military to finish stupid Greek Arab off! Alsow e hope to get dye and gems on-line for additional commerce. In addition markets need to be constructed!

However good news.

LeninD0019.jpg

Ah, Soviet people the strongest in Production.

Still, much work for Soviet People.

Are you micro managing the cities building wealth? The governor is really incompetent for that. He normally switches your high hammers tiles to commerce ones and automatically assigns spies, scientists, etc.
In case you're already doing it, keep selling stuff, begging for gold and try to chop those courthouses. The secretary of the party wouldn't allow merchant specialists, would he?

I am micromanaging and that's the best we cna do. I am still running the scientists specialists though which may alter the building wealth appearence.

And no, merchants are a filthy captilistic idea and have no place in the United Soviet Socialist Republic!

If I remember my history correctly, Lenin did allow small scale merchants (nepmen?) during the russian civil war when the economy was bankrupt. Lenin was nothing if not pragmatic!

Hello! My first post in an RPC thread, having lurked for a while after finding you via Neal's Throne Room. Loving your work - terrific fun, and lots of ideas...
Yes, Bestje, the N(ew)E(conomic)P(lan) utilised the middle class 'kulak's to keep the economy afloat during the civil war, and then our enlightened leader had them all killed. How to imitate that? Run a merchant in every city until Alexander is destroyed, then switch to slavery for long enough to kill one citizen for each merchant that we ran?
Well, can't wait to see how our illustrious leader recovers from such madcap conquest...

Welcome Comrade. I have yet to play next segment, but I think finding a way out of this mess WITHOUT merchants or slavery is truely RPCish!

Mad, finally got around to checking your save. What I meant by micromanaging was something like this:

Spoiler :

You were not technically on strike anymore because you were making +1gpt, but that sucks anyway. I checked your cities that were building wealth and found out you could do it in a more optimal way. I switched a few tiles around and got much better results. I didn't touch any of the scientists because they're the only research you have. Let's see some cities.

Moscow:
Spoiler :

Civ4ScreenShot0005-1.jpg

Unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot of the after. But what I did was to take a citizen off one of the farms and put him on a hill. That raised your income to 4gpt.

Petrograd:
Spoiler :

The city was like this:
Civ4ScreenShot0006.jpg

I put the citizens like this:
Civ4ScreenShot0007.jpg

Now you're making 9gpt.

I didn't touch the following cities, but you should send workers to their hills to build mines, so you'd have more high hammer tiles to work when building wealth:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0008.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0009.jpg

If you need even more money, you can starve your cities by switching them all to hammer tiles. Just don't forget to change them back before the city loses pop. There is also a courthouse to be completed next turn, which can let you raise your science slider. Never trust the governor when building science or wealth.

Sorry for the lots of spoilers.

@Ignorant Teacher and Mad:

Spoiler :
Petrograd needs to grow and with only 3 Pop it can grow some more within its happy cap. I don't recommend taking the citizen off the gold tile, but leaving it as it was would be better in the long run. Also notice that in p-grad built wealth only amounts to 4 gold. You could better use this small production to build a forge, which is the only early building which increases the amount of built gold. Put the fourth citizen to work on the copper mine.

As soon as you can, take the citizen off the second non-river mine at Rostov and make him a scientist. It has an academy and a large amount of built up GPP. However, you will need to wait until some of your other cities come online building wealth.

Build forges in all your cities ASAP so that you can get the 25% bonus production and +1 happy from the gold. Also, marketplaces give +2 happy from ivory and silk, so build these two buildings in Moscow, Smolensk, Petrograd and any other high trade cities. Forges only in low trade cities.

I quite like this idea.... Its pragmatic!

Although I think it was Stalin that disposed of them after the death of Lenin and the NEP.
