Role Playing Challenge: Persians In Space!

Nice one on winning. I don't recall if you used any espionage, do you think that it would been useful? I was thinking if you could get the points you could have had a pop at one of Freds high culture cities if it had got really close with the win.

Thanks. Espionage was kept minimal, part of this RPC was to play nice and espionage as a negative thing would have prohibited. I could have used spies to take down Sal's cultural borders if I went to war with him, but sabotaging Fred's cultural cities (who was generally friendly all game) was a :nono: I had to get the spaceship off an landed before he got a cultural victory.

As it was I never built a single spy the entire game.

After posting I did think that spying could be a bit like piracy so was probably a no no. Can waint to see Shaka in action!

Hmmm we've lighten up the darkened world....but...

Spoiler :
Nah, just joking, I'm killing in production, double the next AI in population, its the tech's where I'm neck and neck.

But I'm going for space, where others are all over the place

1) In MY world, CEASAR vassalised Isobela, early on, must have dog piled here allong with Justinian early on.

2) George boy in a Vassal to Justinian, Voluntarly in and out numerous times

3) Bismark is behind, and I hoped to set up as the 'whore of the east' for the AI to satisfy war lusts upon.

End result, I've achieved my result of Ceasar and Justinian HATING  each other with a passion.

Ceasar had "too much on his hands for a long time, don't know what he was doing, no real troop production, as we has open boarders with all, and I had an EXPLORER (non troop) looking about.

THEN BANG Justinian DECLARES ON CEASAR This is after repeated refusal's to go to war, 'we don't like you enough'

Justinian has a tech lead, Ceasar has the troops numbers, but CAN'T use them effectively. Dithers and Daly's...I basically had to produce bombers and fighters, sent them to Ceasar and GIFT them, to help him out, but NO TROOPS.

Ceasar eventually was Vassalized by Justinian, Isobela Broke free during the war, but remained a VERY EFFECTIVE WAR ALLY. Did much better then Ceasar in my opinion.

Gifted a few more planes to Izzy, to stop her being eaten next, Teched quietly............until

Bar rupt bar bar Rut roh, got Mech infantry in cities 2 min, but havent' given city garrision, Dumb....

Justinian does a SEA assult, walked right through my sea pickets, wasn't paying attention, just moving rapidly through.

Attacked one city, it held out, I've destroyed most of his navy with Missle Crussiers with cruise missles...WHAT ELSE??

Ceasar...OMFG...I had the Brilliant idea, while he was being attacked pre vassalization, to send troops to the one city on my continent, in turndra, he took of Justinian, and gift them to him, and flip it culturally close boarders and bounce them back to Ceasars lands.

It's revolted once, looking good, gave him oh 10 tanks, city garrison 3 infantry/longbow's etc........but now he's vassalized and my enemy...its come back to bite me big time..but no biggie...plenty of BOMBERS to damage, and tanks to kill

Ceasar and Justinian STILL LOATHE each other...but Justinian has fingers in 4 victory pies...Cultural, space race, Diplomatic and domination.

1) Space race, I've got tech lead, so can't lose that.

2) Cultural, Dumb A Ceasar, who I assumed would kill one cultural city, DIDN'T:mad:

3) Domination, I've 24% of land and over 35% pop...so just hold him off Izzy, gifting planes, and bismark, Sea barrier I'm ok.

4) Diplomatic, here he could win as has 2 vassals, and Frederick in friendly with him, as a result, I lost the General Secretaryship. He build it. But hopefully me and Izzy will comprise a blocking stake.

Conclussions;

I've been much slower in tech, due to my war with sal, which gave me land needed, but killed my middle tech research, played catch up.

1 Brilliant tech trade I did, which got me right back in it, was Biology, I traded this for; 6-7 techs with 4 on main continent, it may have been even more.

I built ALL THE late game wonders ALLOWED...Pentagon partly for cash...:nono: build, and no internet, Justinian has that.

1 turn off advanced flight, as Georgie boy has that, I don't want to give it to Justinian.

Now I'm just building navy, cruse missles and Mech infantry, teching remaining space tech's then it LAUNCH TO THE STARS...

Challanging map its been. Bringing light to a darkened land, then to take it away and launch to the stars... how could you:confused:

 What can I say....

Since the RPC is over, I lost to a cultural victory by Justinian.

He launched IBT In Between Turns, with 1 less Thruster, so I'd have beaten him to Alpha, but got it on a cultural victory.

As I've said in other reports on the shadow effort, he had his hand in 4 victory pies

1) Domination, well Vassals kept on leaving so...No.

2) Space race, did I ever mess this one up, didn't build the Research Lab's UNTIL I had 1/2 the ship built then realised why it was taking so long...IDIOT. Oh yeah, lost the space Elevator by few turns too, built in proberly 5th best hammer city, as one of few ABOVE 30 Deg latitude

3) U.N. I lost my place on the ballot to Frederick  , OH yes...I defied a resolution..Just as well, Otherwise Justinian would have had a Diplomatic Victory MUCH EARLIER.

4) Cultural, Seems he went all out on Culture, and if I HADN'T MESSED UP ON THE RESEARCH INSTITUTES... I've had gotten a space race victory...

Oh well, live and learn.

Other mistake made during the game;

1) Assuming Ceasar, was the dominate military threat, even though he was 1 tech era in arrears...HUGE ERROR.

2) Trying to late to aid Ceasar. I only ended up boosting Justinians Vassal

3)Killing early research with my war of Conquest, WITHOUT CATAPULTS...Swords worked up to 40%, then I couldn't get enought troops there quick enough..too long it took

4) Didn't save a Great engineer for one of the mining corps, Justinian got them both. Got my engineers way too late.

5) Not trading more Military tech with the main Continent..To cause more strife, MUCH EARLIER

6) No horse archers to take on cataputs, YES, they do have a use VIRGINA.:p

7) Didn't build the Research Institues, IMMEDIATELY upon researching computers...DUMB DUMB DUMB

Things done right.

1) Golden age to rush Statute of Liberty, *I'd thought I'd virtually won the game then*

2) Trading Biology for 8 techs or more...ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. Proberly got 5-6 times the beaker value for it

3) Taking over Saladins 1/2 of the Continent, even though I really needed Cataputs, but I wanted to keep him off Machinery, Should have Just pillage iron mines (2)

I"d thought it'd be close with a cultural victory, but I assumed Justinain was all gun ho on Domination/space race....but DAMM PEEPS :crazyeye: 4 VICTORIES PERSUED.....Just remember, if you beeline Computers, its a good idea to build the RESEACH INSTITUTES, not cash rush them like I had to once I realised

IPEX, Bummer about losing to Justininan. I was luckier in that Fred did not hike up the culture slider, probably since he had some military issues with Sal and the other continent.

Thanks for reporting the Shadow game.

OK, I reloaded from the 1 turn left of a goldend age., just after I got the Statute of Liberity.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE........... I didn't TRADE BIOLOGY AT ALL....

Now this made a HUGE DIFFERENCE... I can only assume it allows the comp to go crazy in terms of Science/population....A diffeniate NO NO

I only traded it to one AI, who seemed to horde the knowledge, and ended up leader in Space race/Science.....

Lost out on Christo Rendentor.....but got 3 happyness wonders...

I NEVER had to use the culture silder............never.........

Other continent was in constant uproar attacking each other, or visiting my 'Whore of the East' in Frederick.

I was WAY WAY in front in tems of Tech. Bribed a few wars, basically the only war I was involved in was an Apolotic palace one.

It ended up being an easy Space race victory, turned off Scieince for the last 60 turns or so........just cruised..

Had lost AND i MEAN LOTS OF picket Attack Submarines out.

Justinian tried to keep up with me in Military, but know hope.

Ceasar, Dumb Ole Ceasar, who had OIL, Justinian DIDN'T, and had TECHED INDSTRIALISATION, couldn't or wouln't BUILD TANKS.........NO TANKS....FOR TANKS.......

Needless to say, Justinian, who didn't have Oill or Uraniam, Dominated the war, in the end, I dispared of Ceasar holding off Justinian, and Started selling Isabella techs @ $10/tech.........

CAESAR IS PATHETHIC, HOPELESS WAR LORD.........a total idiot, now it may just have been my game, but Resource advantage, TECH ADVANTAGE, *got industrialism 1ST*, BEFORE ME!!!!!

But can't or won't build defence/offence........

in the end an easy SPACE RACE VICTORY in 1976.......

so things learnt.

1) don't trade Biology widely.

2) Tech trade up your allies.

3) Protec your self, ( Isobella, actually took 1 city for 1 turn)...

Don't trade widely post Liberialism, as it only help to speed up the A.I. Who stupidly will follow a set rutine of research.....

Wonder Denial is POWERFUL, DON'T get caught up on Krembelin/Christo redentor/Pentagon.......they only have short term benifits.

Specialist Economy, can AND DOES DOMINATE............

My opinion........but :goodjob
