Pompey, because he was from 77 BC to 50 BC the first man in Rom and in the Republic. Julius time was from 59 BC to 44 BC.

Voted for the 3rd option...though you can never go wrong with #5 either! ;)

Hmm, I'm the only Julius vote :hmm:

I guess I like the earliest possible LH because this is an early mod...I know it extends even well past the time Augustus was emperor, but it does start early and Julius is much earlier than Augustus...

In retrospect, Julius in Republic/Augustus in Empire sounds good too...

The both idea is the best option but if we had to pick between one i'd say Augustus only because of what he accomplished and what his creation of the Roman Empire led too.

Hey leaderhead fans - it's great that y'all are interested in the mod, and I hope your interest will continue on to doing things that will help the mod come into being. There are still a few City/Settler maps to be completed, including the Romans, for example, that we'd love some help on.

Yes, the old switcheroo seems like a good idea to me too.
LH of Pompeii? No way...

Well, that's as close as it could go. J Caesar died in that year of course, but Augustus was still just Octavian and a civil war later became the new Augustus Caesar.

Lulz? What has Julius to do with the Roman Republic, except he lived in the time when the republic still existed? He was the beginning of the ending of the Republic. I don't think he passed the Rubicon to have a cup of cerevisia with the senate, one of the most important institutions of the Republic.
(Still he would be a good choice as the Roman leader)

Well... most of his life was in the Republic including if I am not mistaken having the role on counsul, except for a very short period where he became the Caesar of course...

Yes, and his special unit should be Citygangs, Paramilitary, agitators...

Of course he benefitted of the Republic, because he had money... or was it Crassus? He would never have supported the Republic, if he hadn't benefitted from it.

oh, wait a moment... it was short because the senate murdered him, wasn't it? Clearly a sign for Caesar should be the leader of the Roman Republic...

Settle down Bogus... he was not the best Republican ever, sure... but the most important of them, certainly.
