Rome Ascending

I agree, there's definitely something about the Romans that the other civs don't have..... And their legions are aesthetically pleasing too, much more so than say, immortals, which resemble bandits (certainly not an icon of irresistable military might! :tank: )

By the way, I downloaded that map but I can't seem to get correct starting positions, unless of course the Romans did start in the middle east..... :)

Yeah I couldnt get it workin either. But I got this World Map scenerio from a link in a news update on civfanatics main page and that came with real world starting locations and that worked for me, so maybe try that.

Well look at an earlier post in this thread.. There's a link to civ3breed utility, that allows you to specify starting positions for each civ :)

As for the story, it will continue soon.. I haven't touched civ3 in days, I was too busy with exams and Lord of the Rings, and today, role-playing games, and tomorrow lord of the rings, and then Xmas... But soon, soon my friends :)

and... MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! :D

Lucky. LOTR dont come out here until the day after xmas, what a sucky day to bring it out. Ill still try and see it on that day tho :D

Merry Xmas to you too!

So when will the story of Romans continue?

One day soon... 'tis the Holidays you know :) I thought I'd play more civ3, but I need to rest my hands more... Plus the game is now very very slow, with so many cities around. Turns take a lot of time :) I made it to 1655 so far.. Waiting for the 1700 before writing more.

Great story! This kind of history I like. In the game I just finished the Romans got totally absorbed save for Rome. I took that in 2049 AD. They were sandwiched between me (Egypt) and Greece. Once the fools discovered this, (and their lack of ANY strategic resourses) they built citys on coastline all over the map. Unfortunatly for them I had high culture ratings all over the map. As did the Russians and Greeks.:p

-ALL HAIL PHARAOH!!!:egypt:

When do you estimate this excellent story will be finished ??? It's great so far and I can't wait till it continues, especially as rome is my favourite civ in the game so far.

:goodjob: :king:

Well...
The Publicus Romanus is waiting!

*sniff*

No I'm not dead. I've just been very busy. Looks like many people want to see that story finished... Maybe I'll get around to it, maybe not.

And of course, the time I choose to go back to civ3 is the time when I've 2 weeks of school left with a huge project. hah! Why doesn't that surprise me...

(and maybe I'm dead, but I keep coming back for more civ3! )

Yep, so would I

Just bumping it up, and i have a question: If i download a map like this that will give me correct Civ starting positions do i need WINZIP or something like that or can i just run them?

Mullet, just use civ3 1.29f :) You can use the editor to "reassign" each starting location to a certain civ (right-click the location, which is by default a blue circle, and select reassign).

I think I'll provide the new map for download somewhere...
