I would like to see many features of this game implemented in CivIV.

I wonder what others think about this. Perhaps there could be an option, keeping the chess like tyle display, to fight the battles ala RTW.

The idea of a family tree spanning in time: family feuds, different heirs to the throne, alliances, backstabs, civil wars...wow.

I'm with Sir Schwick. They both share a historical context, but Rome Total War focuses on a shorter span of time. Civilization takes a wider look at history, and thus needs to be more abstract in its scope -- family trees are just an unnecessary detail when you're looking at 6000 years of history. Not to mention Civilization needs to cover more civilizations on the whole than Rome Total War.

I think people need to keep in mind an appropriate level of detail for the scope of each game. They both work, but I wouldn't go about changing either one of them to be more like the other.
