Disregarding for a moment what you think about the subject matter of the film, The DaVinci Code, what do you think of Ron Howard as a film director?

Ron Howard is the director of the DaVinci Code. He also directed Splash, Cocoon, Willow, Backdraft, Apollo 13, Ransom, EDtv, and A Beautiful Mind among others. He is also a former child actor (The Music Man, The Andy Griffith Show).

edit: added some brief info about Ron Howard

Having wikied him, I can now divulge that found all his films... average. He does have something to do with 24 though, so its not all bad. :D

Where is the option for "Ron Howard is the biggest Heritic" ? :p

Is it the bald head?
Partly, the orange (it's not red, it's orange) hair doesn't help. Look at this old pic of him. Granted, he lost the stache since then, but he's no Alex Trebek!

First of all, how can he be the biggest heretic if he's only adapting material created by Dan Brown? I think in that case Dan Brown would be the biggest heretic.

In any case, it looks like you are judging Ron Howard based on the subject matter of one of his movies, as opposed to his technical comptency as a director, which was the point of the poll. He did earn the Academy Award for Best Director for having directed the film A Beautiful Mind which would suggest that he does have something going for him.

Ron Howard at the IMDB

Looking at the list of movies he directed, there's some gems in there!

Willow baby! :goodjob: The only good Val Kilmer movie out there!

Backdraft and Apollo XIII are also some of my favorites movies.

Howard's not the kind of director that amazed me, he let's the script do that, but he's not bad. He's a good director, not great, but definitely good.

He'll always be Richie Cunningham to me

I remember him as "Opie Cunningham" from the Eddie Murphy sketch.
LOL.

He's always going to be 'Richie' to me, but I said 'Good' because he's at least better than average.

Darn it, I realize I voted good, but just mentally adjust and subtract one from good while adding one to great. He deserves that because of the following movies.

A Beautiful Mind
Apollo 13
The Missing
Cinderella Man
Willow

one of the most better directors in hollywood, make great movies that isnt too cheesy, can be accepted by wide audience and not too artistic and also not too cheesy (like star wars).

great :D

Producing Arrested Development makes him at the very least a good person. On directing, I'd say he's good, not great.

He is a good director. I think he made a mistake making this movie.

I agree. But given the novel's success on the best seller lists, it was inevitable that it was going to be made into a movie. Perhaps better than Ron Howard than some of the hacks out there.
