RPG Poll: Ammendment To Ruleset

This is only a plan I propose. This is no final desicion. So far not many people agree with it, but I think If I string it all together in one post it might make a little more sense. I am not trying to push this on anyone, an I do realize this is a conflict of intrest with my current business. I am willing to give half my profits to the government if this ammendment works. I am also willing to give up the business if everyone thinks that it leans towards me making money too much.

First business is free, and is taxed respectivley after every TC.
After your first business you are charged (These will be called starter's fees.):
Large Business (Business that makes a product, but has to buy supplies from other busienss' to make that product.)- 350 Gold
Supplier Business (Business that never buys supplies form other business)- 200 Gold
Service (Business that provides services.)- 150 Gold
Non- Profit Organization (Business that does not produce a product or provide services, and generates no income.) - 130 Gold

Taxes will be a bit lower for large business, since large business now gets supplies from other companies. Small business are taxed the same because there supplies are from government (such as wood from forest.)

Large Business- 15%
Supplier Business- 10%
Service Business- 5%
Non-Profit Organization- 0%


And you are also charged 20 Gold times the amount of business you already own (this will be called a entrepeneur's fee.) So if you own 2 business' already and you want to make another small business, you pay 200 Gold for the small business and 40 Gold for the starter's fee bringing your total to 240 Gold.


In addition to all the starter's fees. You will have to have a building for your business, which can be built by any of the current building business. For instance I set up the first one. (Builders of Boaring Wallows Incorporated.)
Note: I highly encourage competition against my business. If someone wants to set up a second business in construction I encourage you to do so.

The final expense to starting a business is renting or buying land to put it on. I am not sure as to how many business can be built on a land plot. Your first business should be automatically located without any fee by the government (ruleset.)

Also building companies such as my own should be regulated by the bank and the land manager, so prices will always be in sync with inflation or land prices/business fees.

The second ammendment I would like to make is again for economical purposes. Most people have start business', but what is the common citizen's reason for buying their products. At the moment ther eis none, cause you are always assuemd to have everything you need in stock. To erase this problem and encourage business between business' I propose:

The government has regulations threads. In these one or two threads the governemnt regualtes how much of a supply is needed to produce something. For instance reguarding building: (These numbers are entirely fiction and for all intensive uses only.)

To build a house you need 50 feet of wood.
To build a business you need 65 feet of wood, and 20 bricks of stone.
To build a palace you need 200 feet of wood 75 bricks of stone and 40 pounds of marble.
To supply wood you must own land or rent land in a forest.
To supply stone you must own land or rent land near stone and have one employee.
To supply marble you must own land or rent land near marble and have one employee.

Here is another example.
To make a bow you need 1 block of wood.
To make 1 quiver of 10 arrows you need 2 blocks of wood and 1 brick of stone/bronze/iron.
To make 1 sword you need 2 bricks of iron.

For business' like these this would greatly increase the exchange of money.
For a business that let's say supplies wood, would have to own a piece of land in the forest. And it will always be assumed that wood is in supply. That is why their taxes would stay the same.

Service business, would alsobe involved in this, because the government would regulate how many employees they need to provide whatever service (i.e. 1 employee is needed to train one character in swordplay.)

All in all, this will create the need for an economy. Again I don't want to try and push everything to the limit, I just want to know people's opinions on this.

Ice, should edit in the original rules so people know what they are voting for/against.

I find the rules while giving a more realistic economy make the game a bit harder to understand but thats maybe just me.

I personally dont like them.

The resource one is a bit hairy..You would need to have people supplying the wood and the ore and what ever. I prefer to think of our business as established business with all the resource streams set up.

Sure someone could say well I dont want to buy X so I will say I have it already. The only problem I see is if people stop using the businesses and make stuff appear out of the thin air. BUT I dont see us being a bunch of jerks adndoing that...only exception being if we have to buy a building for our business...I think that should be part of the start up costs.

ICE..please dont take this personally if this doesnt pass. I would hate for you to leave becaue of this. You have done alot to contribute and while these are good ideas they just make things really complicated, most of us here follow the K.I.S.S. principle.

Why would I take it personally, I know I've been pushing a lot for this to get though, but I wouldn't leave because this didn't work...again it's just an idea. And also parts of this couldbe passed, it's not a package deal.

Yeah in my mind the start up cost is the building fee...just no one gets that money. I think of it as buying from the government who gives us our income. Money has to exit the economy some how so thats where it goes. I think the first business should be a government provided building BUT teh second should hav eto be purchased from a building supplier. I see ALL first business as"old" business that were functioning long before our RPG started. Anything after would be new and have to be built.

I'm a little confused. So does this mean my smith shop must pay 15% of sales to the government, or 350 gpt? I don't get the rule proposal for that.

The supply rules are good, but only if we have a lot of people. Right now we don't have enough people to have a full economic model with supplies and such. If we get up into 50+ people, I think those rules would be great. As of right now, I don't want to have to rely on someone else playing and selling me iron for me to work in my shop. If someone sets up a buisness that does that, I'll play along and buy from him. (at resonable prices)

I'm combating inflation by limiting the amount of land available and having auctions for the land. That will help drive gold out of the game.

I here ya George. No the taxes are taxsing your income and are not part of your starup costs, but it looks like everyone is against defferent parts of my ammendments. I guess unless people jsut start flowwing in and voting, we'll lay off the ammendments.
