What is RTR, I have TW Eras and M2TW and before i joined this forum i never heard of RTR.

Rome: Total Realism.

More historically accurate version of RTW.

I've heard of it from other forums.

But I like Vanilla RTW better.

One altering: All factions except SPQR and Rebels playable.

I like RTR much more. It gives more units to build or hire, and gives more realism to battles. Big battles really feel big. It unites Rome into one faction, and starts when Pyrrhus controls Southern Italy. Also Britons and Dacia are removed. The map is expanded to the east, so Seleucids are as big as in reality and Bactria is included.

Very good, worth a try. Never played vanilla after that. Rome, Carthage, Macedon and Pontus are very fun to play, also Gauls are nice. It takes time to download it, but I recommend it.

do they have a smaller map
all that extra map area gives me a headache but I love it so far

the battles are both harder and easier in ways

i kept a battle within about 1%-3% the whole time until the carthaginians got a loop on me and beat me back down to be a loss by 300men, or 7%

Seconded. Definitely worth the time to download. Pontus was a hair raising experience for a little while, but now my economy is strong and I've all but removed outside influences from Asia Minor (i.e. Macedonians, Seleucids, Ptolemaic Greeks, etc). And Macedon? Let's just say the majority of the mini-map is black.

It's Rome Total Realism.org, not .com. And when I typed in RTR on Google, it was the fourth hit (well, the fifth hit was the correct site). Little research goes a long way.

I believe I've heard mention of it (somewhere) on every other RTW forum I've been to.

The map is MUCH larger, but I love it, more realistic world that the ancients would know. conquering it all would be a long tiresome processes, I'm sure I'd get bored before finishing that. They have one last version coming out, hopefully soon, the forums joke alot about how long its been, but this map will be much different, and more realistic. Can't wait.
