RTW and BI mods - which ones to play?

Anyone tried any mods for Rome or Barbarian Invasion? I've played a bit of the excellent Extended Greek Mod recently, and I've heard that Total Realism is pretty good too. Are there any others that people would recommend?

If you can tolerate some occasional crashes and non-savegame compatible updates, then I would suggest Europa Barbarum.

Oh, the installation is kind of a pain too.

Yes, Europa Barbarum is a great mod, but in order to install EB or RTR you have to have patch 1.2 and no other

The great EB is currently playable with 1.5 - 0.81a is the latest stable release. You can find it at their website which is located here. R:TR is also playable with 1.5 due to the excellent work of a group of "porters" who have moved R:TR to the 1.5 engine. R:TR PE, as it is currently named, is available here.

I like to stick with the mods that use the -mod switch since they do not overwrite the original game, though when RTR 7.0 comes out I will have to try it. My suggestion is, go to the site that hosts the mods and look at how many times each mod has been downloaded. Get the one with the most downloads. The ones that I see are RTR, Darth Mod, SPQR, Europa Barb.

Yeah Rome Total Realism Platinum Edition has a -mod switch version.
