Back with another stupid noob question. If I send workers to prepare an area for a city in or near the jungle because I know I'll need rubber later one in the game, and I clear out the jungle, then will it prevent the rubber from popping up later? I ask because I started a game that's going very well but there is only one jungle area on the map and I have it in my grasp.

No, it will not. Once a resource is assigned to a tile at the beginning of the game, it will stay there until it 'naturally' runs out, if at all. (Horsies and Rubber doesn't run out.)

No, a resource is set at the beginning of the game, and will appear there no matter what you do. Clearing forests and jungles only removes the possiblity of a resource reappearing in that tile. Rubber can also appear in forest, but since rubber is one of the resources that never disappears, go ahead and clear them.

EDIT: Beat to it, but remember that coal can disappear, and won't reappear in a cleared jungle.

i have a question along this topic, I am in the middle of my first promissing game, and I control about a fourth of the map (I'm on chieftan) and I can't find coal. Can it appear in territory you already have? Also if I trade maps with an AI civ that doesn't have the technology to see coal will I see it on the map?
