Ruff07 - Poor Marvin, but really ... who cares?

Rex? You there? If not, I will play a set in about 26 hrs from this post.

yes. Victory. No idea what time.

Have you upgraded to 3.17? The game has and a CTD is a symptom of opening a 3.17 game with 3.13.

I will grab it for a last set before my Holidays 12th- 26th July Inc.

Got it.

Well I decided not to get depressed about our tech position (they have nukes and Infatry we have riflemen..) and juts heed Eddie’s advice to “just win!!”

So at least they all love us so perhaps diplomacy is the option

And they definitely hate each other and decide to give each other grief.

Phase 2 Ummm Greeks I mean Romans bearing gifts. No thanks I don’t want to end up at war with 3 civs who have Nukes and are prepared to use them thanks!!

Well - that was unexpected. I thought we would sit back and watch some bloody baths ... totally forgot about the diplo victory option. Well done everyone ... even if the end game was slightly contrived.

Lurker's comment:

I believe you're all glad it's over ;) Bit sad, the game started really well. I just echo ruff: That was unexpected :goodjob:

So, the general feeling was a good idea that started ok but quickly got boring. How do we fix that? Having 1 unit with nothing to do was a bit dull and hard to have an impact on the game. However, the whole point was that your PA partner would do the heavy lifting.

Suggestions for improvement welcome.

The concept was interesting. However, it got dull as there was nothing to report. After awhile "Hi, our ally is still out there" got dull. I was debating to stop lurking when the game ended.

To be honest, I am not sure what you could to make the concept have staying power.

Hang in for a short while - I have an idea or two but I wanted to give people a chance to think about it with being distracted by my comments.

It would probabely be more interesting if you gave yourself a mech inf :hammer:

Ok - my thoughts. This game got a little boring. Ok, a lot boring. There wasn't much that we could do to influence matters and there wasn't a lot of game play for us either. My suggestion would be that (if we want to), we play this as a OOC, two land masses and our PA is on the other land mass. This would mean that we couldn't give or get military help in the short term but we could help direct wars (start them, direct which cities to attack, etc). We could obviously select the tech path.

In the mean time - we would have to deal with our own neighbours and the issues they would bring to us (wars, conflict, etc). Our knowledge of all leaders would help balance out the additional tech cost that being in a PA brings.

The aim would be for us to get our PA to wipe out the other leaders on his island and then to help us wipe our leaders out - a potentially long drawn out modern war as there would be no easy way for us to limit their (the leaders on our land mass) expansion, tech rate or arms build up.

I think this game might be more interesting as we would have to play it on two fronts - directing our PA from a distance (and looking at the AI-silliness) while keeping our own head above water (militarily).

Rome might be a good PA for us. I would also put nut cases (Monty, Boudica) on our island as well as leaders who will run away with the tech (Mansa, Pacal).
