Hey, My friend wants to buy cIV for the mac, (I've got a pc) and I'm not sure if he can run it. I'm a bit confused with whether he can run it or not, and I'm unable to find it anywhere in these threads, so sorry if its a repeat.

He's got a Mac Mini, bought about a year ago, I know it has extra memory and is a 1.8 GHz. Anyone able to give me any ideas if he can run cIV? Otherwise, I may never be able to get my room (and more importantly, my cIV) back....

Does he have the PowerPC G4 or Intel Mac Mini? If it is the PPC G4, yes he can. That is what I use. If it is the newer Intel based Mac Mini, I don't know but I seem to recall someone saying that there was a problem with the compatibility of the integrated graphics chip.

I've got a macIntel mini with a 1.83g processor. The game runs fine but you need to disable the warning about the grapics (can't remember how -sorry). And don't expect stellar performance.

All you need to do is edit the config file: CivilizationIV.ini, found in Users/[yournamehere]/Documents/Civilization IV

Open it in TextEdit. The sixth entry* will read:

; Don't show minimum specification warnings
HideMinSpecWarning = 0

Change the 0 to 1, press cmd-s, and you'll never see the warning again ;)

*If you still didn't find it, just cmd-f minimum [that's the only instance in the whole file :)]
