Okay, I've noticed that since I reinstalled Vista, no program can access the S.M.A.R.T. info for my HDD. (Which, according to HWiNFO32, is a WDC WD50 00AAKS-22A7B).

I tried going through the Western Digital site for drivers or something but I couldn't find my model there.

Any suggestions?

The HDD drivers come with Vista. Is it switched on?, if so try reinstalling the latest drivers for your IDE/SATA Channels (iirc some chipsets used to have custom ones, like Nvidia's, though i haven't checked since the XP days... tried your mobo disks?).

Well, it's my C drive, so it's gotta be turned on... Unless... Unless I'm running the computer from a hidden chip!! (LOL)

I have a NVIDIA chipset, seems like all the buses (am I looking at the right thing?) are NVIDIA.

I don't have any OEM discs, just a retail version of Vista I got cheaply. In fact, I'm not even sure who the OEM is, as the computer says it's Foxconn, but the sticker on my PC says Cybertron.

the nVidia sata drivers dont let you get into SMART on the HDD. I ran into the same problem 2 months ago. My suggestion, only install the most basic nVidia nForce drivers. Vista/7 should have the drivers for your ethernet and SATA already available and they work better.

Will try soon.
