Well, folks....my little 3-month experiment has come to an end. When I came across the DemoGame, I found it to be a great idea and couldn't wait to participate. I have met many good and helpful people along the way and hope to stay in touch. However, I cannot dedicate the amount of time necessary to gain election in this town as it seems you must be present in the chats to make a name for yourself.

So I tried my best by posting my ideas and strategy in the Citizens Forum. Most of my ideas seemed to be well-received but apparently not memorable enough to gain election over someone who took the most of the month off.

Sour grapes, you say? Yes, a little, I must admit and I know that I let my governorship slide a bit while dedicating myself to the Military, so maybe that comes into play a bit. Or maybe there is such a grand history with the mightily named General Falcon that no one wants to take a chance on some newcomer named Zoi. Or maybe I am a bit wordy and no-one wants to sift through all the rhetoric to figure out what I'm all about.

Regardless, time is the major factor for me here. With two RL jobs, my time in the Forums was always on the fly. Now that I have PTW, I feel that my participation will wane even more. So I am off to the RPG to see if they have a boat for sale. I may return to the DemoGame when General Falcon leads the Fanatikan troops to the little island on the corner of the map. That's where I shall be.

wow.. don't go! You don't have to be at the turn chats to make a name for yourself. Disorganizer didn't come to all of them, and he made a name for himself... There've been others, too, like Ehecatl (he came to some, but not all), shaitan...

Well, CT, disorganizer never got elected to a leadership position, did he? Donovan is right in everything he said. It is a great loss for us that he's going but I can't really blame him. :(

I think dis chose not to...

Blah. I voted for you Donovan; you came into the DG at the same time I did, and I thought you were one of the most thoughtful citizens we had when it came to actual discussion about the game... I'm sorry to see you go :(

Elections are popularity contests even in real life, and their is little that can be done about it. Falcon does have quite a reputation, and has definately served Fanatika (and Phoenatica) very well. It is hard to defeat someone with a reputation like that in an election when you are still considered a newer player. To be honest, however, I did vote for you, and precisely for the reason you stated. You did a very good job of filling in, and Falcon was gone for most of the term. Thus, I figured you deserved a chance at the leader position.

Also keep in mind, we have a number of citizens that have been around for a long time, that do little more than vote in polls (which is absolutely fine), and probably didn't notice any of what was going on.

Anyway, I am sure Falcon will do a fine job as military leader, but I am also sure he could use any help you are willing to give.

Sorry to see you go, DZ. I realize you like to push the envelope when it comes to responsibilities. Maybe you could have started out a little slower. Anyway, I think you should have won the election myself, but that's another story. Come by and have a meal and a glass of wine sometime.

Hmm..I never did really get to know you, but any loss in citizenship is a loss to the demogame. I hope to see you somewhere in my travels across the vast lands of this world, heck, I might even visit you in that island of yours :)

I'm sorry to see such a devoted Deputy leave. You've served me better than any former Deputy of mine (concidering your were deputy for the only term where the deputy had to take over). Any rate, I hope you reconcider and find the ability to continue your service to me and fanatika... maybe one day I'll serve you as Military Deputy ;) during my semi-retirement.

*Grand Admiral CivGeneral gets the felling that his acomplishments in Gemogame 1 Term 5 were forgoten :(

no CivGeneral, you were a good Deputy, but unlike Donovan, you never really got a chance as Deputy to take the reigns like Donovan did.

One day Ill return to the Military Department and become Military Leader once again :).

Come on DZ, don't go! There is no shame in not wining an election, and certantly not to Sir Falcon (who in my opinion is our greatest military leader in CFC DG history).

Funny thing......there isn't a legal shop in the RPG that sells boats, so I guess I am stuck here. ;)

Seriously, after much thought, I have decided to stick around honor my position as Military Deputy. Though time is still a factor for me, I don't want to be thought of as one who just picks up his toys and goes home. My time in the forums will be very limited but I will still try to raise issues whenever I can offer a fresh insight. And I still plan to vote in the polls whenever possible.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words; they were a big factor in my decision to stay.

I voted for you too. Keep in mind I did not know who falcon was.. Even if I did, I would have voted for you ;).

I am glad to see you have stayed. To be honest, I voted for you too. It is intimidating at first to see all the big names and you wonder how you will ever get to the top. All of us were newbies once and I even still consider myself a newbie after being here three months and experiencing much of the DG. I hope you can continue with the DG and I will let you know that unless you completely screw up, you will always have my support for the position of Military Leader. Also, the Fanatikan DG is probably the hardest and easiest DG to suceed in. It is hard because so many people have been around for a long time who know everything and hold the top positions, but easy because there are so many positions to get started at. If you can show up at t/c's, post in the citizens forums, and just contribute all around to the DG, then you will get your name out easily and I know you have done that and will continue to do that.
Thats the end of my long winded rant :p.
