San Andreas - Quick questions

It's quite easy once you get good at aiming. Shoot the people on the bike, not the bike itself. For the cars, don't waste your time shooting the car, shoot the guy in the passenger seat and shoot out the tires. At the beginning, where Smoke stops because of a roadblock, blow up the middle car, and then kill the people in front of you.
I don't know how many attempts I had, but I made it, at last. :)
Easy??? Maybe if your fingers learn every turn and move on the route.

At the beginning of this mission, I had MP5 and about 9050 ammo. When I enter the building, the game replace the MP5 with a MAC-10. -OK, I just pick up an MP5 from dead enemies. When the mission was completed, I again found myself with MAC-10. And only about 80 ammo left!

There is no way I have fired 9000 bullets during the pursuit! One of the guides even states that I have unlimited ammo when I ride the bike. I am cheated. It took me some time to collect all that ammo.

The game will automatically take away ammo for any gun you have when it gives you a different gun in that same slot. The same thing happens, for example, when you're given a silenced pistol later on. Only thing you can do is go and pick up more ammo later anyway.

I see, thank you.

I experienced something similar during the "Nines and AK's", where I got a 9mm pistol from Emmet. When the mission began, I had the silenced gun and at least 1000 rounds.
I lost all that ammo, and it makes sense because the 9mm and the Silenced gun does not use the same kind of ammo.

But the TEC-9, the MAC-10 and the MP5 does share the same kind of ammo, so it makes no sense I lost the ammo.

I get a silenced gun later on? If I at that point already carry a silenced gun and 2000 rounds, will I not lose ammo?
Will the game give me handguns, shotguns, machine pistols, assault rifles or long range rifles later on?
Maybe I can save myself from picking up a few thousands of rounds that will be lost.

How does the adrenaline work, and where can it be picked up?
I heard it can be found in Santa Maria Beach, under the pier's big wheel, but this seems to be incorrect. I can't find anything there.

What is the 2-player "rampage" about? Destroying as much as possible before you get busted or wasted?
That's what I normally do (alone) anyway.. :p

You can buy weapons, ammo and armor at AmmuNation
When is Ammu-Nation unlocked?

I am about to start on OG Loc's missions.

Edit:
In the Stats Achievements, something is called "furthest hoop". What do they mean? What is a "hoop"?
Nothing in the translation books makes sense.

Basketball? OK, thank you.

Anyone else find the 8-track race hard? I always end up last place or blowing up my car, sometimes as early as the fourth lap.

I mean, I should know how to drive in this game. The stats tells me I've played for 169 hours and many of these hours are spent driving. My driving skill was maxed out loong ago. Still I can't handle this racing car?!

I've driven all the cars available in Los Santos, and I think all handles better than this race car (don't know its name). I think I'd won if I was allowed to drive a pickup truck, like the Picador.

I've tried to just drive "peacefully", to shoot the other cars, even satchel charges. I can't hit the cars by gunfire, and timing the satchels is difficult, I'm allowed to be outside my car just a few seconds. I also brought with me a gang member once, but he would not attack my rivals.

I guess I'll sometime win this race, I just don't know if I'll have any hair left when it happens...

Stay in your car  Also your driving skill should be maxed out...169 hours
Yeah that's many hours... GTA is the first game I've played with this much freedom to do everything, so I spent much time doing everything but missions.

Driving fast and try out different cars and learn that each car handles differently is fun, so I have driven alot. I can outrun the police on flat tires sometimes. But do well in 8-Track? :shake:
That racing car steers like it got one flat front tire.

Btw, I didn't find "High Stakes, Low-Rider" too hard, I won it after about "only" five attempts.

Edit, update:
I'm not sure if this is possible for me to win. I must drive slower than the others or I constantly bump into the walls. I tried to drive at the same speed as the others (got me up to an unusually good 7th place), and the car caught fire after 3 laps because I often slide into the walls at this speed. :cringe:

Every so often I try that bloody figure-8 track and remember why I haven't been able to finish it. The fact they constantly run me into the walls doesn't help my already rather poor driving abilities.

The figure-8 track is a waste of time imo. You'd need to be a complete whiz at racing in a 5 meter width road with around 20 cars.

I love the 8-Track, it's so much fun :D

Trick is not to keep up with the cars at the beginning, and slow down for the sharp corners. After a couple of laps the rival cars will begin to be more spaced out, and it's easy to overtake them on the straights at full speed.

IIRC you start at the back though? Simply let them all go ahead and crash into the wall and stay behind them unless you see a gap. For the first lap or so I purposely stay behind in 12th place, unless there's a very clear opening for me to pass - I don't trust the AI cars :p

:D How good to hear other than me find this difficult! :mischief:

Man, WHERE do you drive this race?? :crazyeye:
The 8-track is two circles! The "straight" is so short I miss it if I blink. But a couple of the turns are a bit harder because they are narrow.

Edit:
And if you don't keep up with the cars at the beginning, how are you ever going to catch up with the best competitor if you let him get far ahead?

Shoot the cars
While I drive my own car? It's very difficult to keep the exact same speed and stay in position for shooting, and not crashing into things. I have not managed to shoot a car enough to destroy it.

I have destroyed many cars with satchel charges, but I am not sure if they respawn somehow. I blew up many cars, and I was still 12th place. If I destroy 8 competitors, I should be in 4th place?
I'm not sure if I can win this way, I ran out of satchels. I'm gonna try this more, later.

Here's a strategy guide for the race.

Only problem is making it work...

Got my wording wrong - I meant the 'long' corners (in particular the one after the narrow straight but before the starting line). They're wide enough and long enough for you to go to full speed, without much concentration required to keep the car on the road. Best place to overtake the cars.

The narrow straight is particularly brutal, particularly when going into it (the AI cars themselves smash into its wall :p ). Which is why I slow down a lot before going into it, then blasting out the other side.

Aha, I think I know where you mean, where they bump into the wall is where I like to place my explosives. It's also a dangerous place to walk, sometimes I find myself at the bottom of a pile of cars.

I edited the previous post, added a question. I wasn't aware you had already answered.
