HONG KONG - In what appears to a triumph in the war on disease, the SARS virus Tuesday was reported to have a "nutty, cinnamon taste".
"I can't believe it," said Hao Wang, a researcher helping to find a cure. "One minute it was my worst enemy, the next it's my favorite snack!" A petri dish of the virus was found Tuesday morning to be containing a brownish substance. "We knew that the virus couldn't have gotten out overnight, and security's been there 24/7. So what else could we do? We had some. Well, as they say, the rest is history."
Taste tests are already under way as it is determined what kind of food SARS would taste best on. Leading contenders include pastries and fresh, homegrown vegetables.
President Bush was thrilled to hear the news. "Let's hope it makes the pretzels go down easier."
