Anybody know how to save/restore a multiplayer game?

I tried saving and restoring a multiplayer game. The save file had
a .net extension indicating that the game differentiates between saves of regular games and network games. But the other player (there was only one), who was on-line at the time with the same IP address, was not reconnected. Is this even possible? It takes so long to complete a game, I'd think there would be a provision for multiple players to stop and continue a game. I've been playing over GameSpy.com and although the connection will stay up for hours, sooner or later there is a glitch, and I loose the connection to the other player, and the computer takes over that player's units.

If you save the game as a 'net' game, then when you guys are ready to play, make sure you reopen it as a multiplayer game and then have your friend connect and join the game. The only 'slight' drawback is that before play begins you aren't assigned the Civ you were playing before you saved it, you have to choose it again from the list of all Civs involved - and on that list it shows you how many cities and how many military units each civ has. :(

Get ICQ!!!

The you can forget GameSpy and just play with an IP address!!!

It makes life much easier.

As for your problem, if the extension is not fouled up, you should have no problems...

P.S.: Get ICQ!!!;)
