I am new to designing scenarios. I have submitted quite a few ontheis stie under the name Timothy Fowlkes. They are in the Ancient, Industrial, Modern and Sci-Fi sections. If any one can play them and let me know of any pointers and tips to designing I would be greatful for your input.

PS I think Actium in the ancient section is my best work.:D

Please give any input you may have:egypt:

I only downloaded the alternate timeline WWII scenario to have a look. From a initial assessment, technically they seem ok. But they lack appeal. In summary:

1. quality - not quantity

2. release your scenarios one by one not all at one shot.

3. people like to see nothing recognizable from the default civ2 (even if the default city, terrain or unit is perfectly suited to your scenario) so change everything - even if for cosmetic reasons. I learned this the hard way.

Note. If you borrow something from other scen creators, don't forget to credit their efforts. It's an important part of Civ n-etiquette.

Actium is a nice scen, BTW. ;)

PS :o Ooops... credit your playtesters, too.

I am new to scenario design and still learning the do's and don't s of all of this... most units i did borrow. But didn't think to include the credit for it.. I don't have any programs to make my own units. So i must use others.. I will try to remember to include them in my next ones.:egypt:

The WWII wasn't my best..I only did that because my word processor went down,, it was really meant to be a story for a book I am writing. as far as quality,, i assume u mean the number of units. If its the numbers of cities I'll explain why I do that.. I like lots of cities, to me it make it more realistic that taking maybe 5 cities and have that civilization destroyed, especially if that nation had maybe 1000 in real life. Im just a fan of large numbers of cities. as far as the number of units, i should have scaled back some. And releasing them all at once, I admit was a bad idea. As far as number 3 goes. I dont know how to design my own units or have any programs to do it so i have to use others to make my scenarios. As I said WWII was a whim and a bad example.. perhaps you might want to try my How Few Remain or American Front scenarios. I thought they came out well,, but of course i had to use Michael Jeszenka's units from his Second Reich scenario and alter them to fit the storyline. Please try one of them and let me know, because as I said the WWII WAS not my best work. Thank you for taking the tiome to play it though, i do appreciate it.:egypt:

On Civfanatics, look at "Scenario creation" section. There are a lot of useful tips here.

Look at HS Scenario League website, too... their "Scenario creation" section is one of the most complete of the whole Net.

Also Arne's website owns a nice scenario creation section - in German...

Have fun!!!!!:goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:
