I can't run 'em in XP. In scenarios like Red Front, TSFE, Imperium Romanum, when i try to setup the scenario, the DOS window opens up then closes in a split second. I think it has to do with XP not having a real DOS. Will i have to reboot my system in DOS just to play these scenarios?

I had that happened to me with some Dos programs. I would know since I am also a window XP user :).

Try this DrOrgaZmo:
1. Right click on the dos program and select properties.
2. Go under the compatibilites tab
3. Enable "run this program in compatibility mode for:"
4. In the menu, select the version that has worked for you ( Windows 95, 98, etc.)

I hope this works for your old dos progrms

also try opening a command prompt to run it in (start bar-run-cmd) also I've heard you need a copy of choice.com (choose, change?). which I assume is a command no longer supported by XP but if you do a search either here or at Apolyton it has been posted a few times.

It is due to dos being hacked to a shell in XP.

You need a choice.com for it to work.I'll attach one here.Unzip and keep it in the same folder as the .bat file.

u don't run choice, u put it in the scenario file of any scenario's that use a .bat file. Choice will allow u to run the .bat file to get the scenario set-up.

Hey, I'm not even able to get Civ2 to run! Since getting my new PC (with WinXP) I've pretty much joined the people who want Bill Gates' head. Any suggestions for when Civ2 doesn't run at all? The map editor works fine, but I get an error message when I try to run the main program.

what does the error say Major? If it's about -3ICDecompress check out my website or the civ2 tech support section.
