Hey I'm fairly new to civ3 and i'm having trouble with loading scenarios. I played civ 2 alot and loved the scenarios but i'm a bit lost with civ 3's scenarios. I can get the scenario to load however the screen freezes when the game is loaded with the 'loading scenario' bar and the black background. Can i have some help? P.S I'm running OS 9.2. Thanx!

Hello, welcome to MacCivFanatics :wavey:

Which scenarios are you trying?

Are you sure they are for version 1.29 and not PtW or Conquests?

Yer the scenarios are for 1.29, i'v tryed a few ww2 scenarios like d-day and world war 2 axis. I was thinking that maybe my computer can't handle all the computer players? would that be a problem?

Could be. You need to give Civ plenty of memory, especially if the maps are huge. How much RAM do you have? I keep fprgetting you still have to worry about that in OS 9. I only lived with it for 15 years! :(

And what do you have teh memory set to in Get Info for Civ3?

I am very new, have OSX, v1.29, and have tried to download some scenarios. They all say the same thing, this file may be corrupt and so I can't load it.
I have randomly selected some and have got nothing. Same thing every time.
Do I need to download a patch or some other add on to get things going on scenarios, modpacks etc.
PS I am very new to mac and not very tech savvy.
Please help

I know with using a PC, some of these bigger scenarios can take hours to load. Try loading a scenario over night. Savegames and turn play will go much faster.

Sorry, Scotty, I only just saw your reply. I really don't know what else to suggest. I could offer to try to load up one of the scenarios that giving you trouble, but I'm on OS X so my experience wouldn't necessarily help you.

Have you tried throwing away the Civ3 preferences and reinstalling it from scratch? Sometimes that's the only cure for Civ3 ills ;)

The most common reason for that message is when you are trying to run a file for PTW (or Conquests, now) on a Mac. Make sure that the ones you try have a file called xxxx.BIC, not xxxx.BIX or xxxx.BIQ, as .BIC is the only scenario file type that Civ3 for Macintosh can read.
