science advisor unhappy

the only time the science advisor is unhappy is when your space ship is destroyed. any body know any other times?

Yes, he's unhappy too both when he says that "we are backwards..." and when he complains about the research fund. IIRC, in vanilla Civ3 (before patch) he was never unhappy; this was a bug that was fixed later.

Actually, I find that he's never happy.

Even if I'm playing with a three or four tech lead, he still wants me "to increase science spending"!

Makes me wonder if they even programmed him with happy remarks.

I've seen him happy; he says "we are technologically advanced!" and "Our scientific research is progressing well due to generous funding".

Yeah, the only happy thing i've ever seen him say is "We are technologically advanced!"

Course, that was because little ol' me was just keeping my head down and cranking research while the rest of the world beat the snot out of eachother. I was peddling my wares to both sides of the war, taking the money, and researching like mad. By the time their "WW1" ended, I was already into the modern age and gunning for a spaceship

But the rest of the time he just sits there, *****ing about funding.



BTW, thanks Khan. I wasn't sure if it was a general lack of tech or a specific one (since I tend to blitz up certain trees and neglect others, resulting in a somewhat lopsided or 'backwards' civilization. At least until I can buy/borrow/steal what i'm missing )

To get him to be happy you need to put science funding above 60%. Though that is not always a good idea since I will often put science at aabout 30% at the end of a age since I have reached the 4 turns roof.
