Science calculation wrong?

In my current game I turn down the science slider and adjust my scientists, just before discovering new techs. I always do and sometimes it f***s up, because of pollution, enemy presence in coastal squares, etc. Nothing new there.

Back to my current game:
I did as usual, but did not get my new tech the following turn.
The problem is that there were no factors to reduce my science (one of my cities actually grew and increased science output).
I tried loading the previous turn and increasing science output with the slider - an increase of 68 beakers - and still I did not get the new tech.

What's going wrong?
All suggestions appreciated. PW

Were you in a golden age on the last turn? That could have increased the number of turns enough.

I am, presently, in a sci GA, but it neither ended or began during current research.

I don't know about the death of a knowledgable civ, as I did not meet all yet, but I don't think so. You are usually informed of the elimination of a civ, even though you did not meet them, AFAIK.
How does that affect your science output, anyway, Doc?

It doesn't affect your Science output, but the Tech costs. And if the vanished Civ had a monopoly, with you getting it second, the effect easily costs a turn when you suddenly have to research at first. But of course, you'd need to know the Civ.

Maybe you could be a little more specific ;) ?

I was researcing chemistry and the info screen in the lower right corner said 1 turn. Science output was 399 beakers + 3 scientists (=9 beakers), 408 in all. I don't know how GA affects this, though, if it is included in the 399 or what. On the next turn the info screen still said 1 turn. I had amassed some science, though, because I could move the slider down to 10% and still get chemistry in one turn (which I did).

After loading, I tried increasing science one notch (to 70%), again + 3 scientists, so the output was 467 + 9 beakers = 476, and still I didn't get it.

What do you make of it?

...so I can't use the info screen?
When do they get added, the extra 25%?

It seems mighty strange, I must admit - I continued playing and I have to increase science funding every turn to get physics in the 4 turns originally predicted by my domestic advisor (and the info screen).

There is no solution to fix it you just have to avoid using it. It will only confuse you and is just waste of SGL.

Your SGL is still wasted.

What you are seeing is a display error. The SGL causes it to appear as if you were getting the bonus 25% to science, while in actuality you are not getting the bonus.
