Science Poll - What to research after Iron Working

I have read the instructions which said that "if 1st place in this poll is obtained by other means, then stop the TC at Iron Working."

On the occassion that the Romans don't have the Wheel, I'd actually look into writing, given trading Alphabet for Wheel.

I'm sorry if my instructions can be misinterpreted. But in fact I don't see the instruction you're talking about.
What I've instructed is that if we obtain both Iron Working (which we are researching now) and the winner of this poll (Alphabet is leading currently), to stop the chat. The reason is that other techs can be researched than and I don't want to deny the option to choose that tech to our citizens.

As visible from the tech-tree, obtaining both Iron Working and Alphabet allows writing. I don't want to kill or delay a tech-path or bee-line to something, if the citizens desire that.

Shouldn't we be going for (beelining to) Monarchy? Alphabet is not needed at this time. We need kings/ queens not letters.

If a citizen wants to bee-line to a tech, they can vote for that in each round. I've opened up discussions for every tech and held polls for every tech. The Science Department gives room to everyone to express their Points of View. If your Point of View is to bee-line to Monarchy, try to convince as many people as you can. If you get sufficient citizens with the same thoughts, you'll succeed.

But I'm not going to become undemocratic because of that. I'll hold Science polls every time we have a chance to choose.

If alphabeth is acquired in a tech trade, we should take that runner up, and we should not constantly have attempts at overruling the multiple polls supporting the monarchy route. It is beyond doubt that monarchy route has a bigger backing than the routes derived from alphabeth. That we accidentally happen to acquire alphabeth during the turnchat, and we have all agreed to conclude iron working, we still may have the opportunity to repoll sciences, and comply with the will of the people.

In fact, I think it is wise to repoll science under all circumstances after ironworking as the presence of absence of iron my change our overall strategy.

what if we pop alphabet from a hut? then what do we research? thats why I wish to stop after alphabet
