Scion supply uinits: what are they for? How do you use them?

Take them back to your capital and you can build certain buildings with them. Library, palisade, etc.

Note that you need unlocking techs to be able to build them. I find supplies to be a good way to build a Great Library early; while it requires 3 libraries you don't always have 3 productive cities when you research writing but with 2-3 supplies you get 3 libraries in a few turns.
