.... It simply does not work. AI Spams new cities that are permanently stuck in size 1-2-3 and the settler units spawns in high numbers in the early game, a byproduct of this is the shortening of the animal spawn period :(

They still somehow manage to put out an incredible amount of culture.

As I understand it animals spawn until there is 1.5 (or 3) cities per civ!?
The scions get awakened in relatively high numbers early on and the 3 cities per civ mark is met earlier.

Perhaps it isn't worth discussing, but imo the AI isn't ready for the scions yet.

Oops...... Okay then. but that reminds me, FFH and its sister mods are beginning to float apart at a quite rapid pace. It would be nice if it could be "slowed" somehow.

So this thread has gotten off topic; bringing things back to the original subject, I have noticed the same thing. The Scions AI doesn't do badly, actually; it's capital is strong enough to give it some power. It actually plays surprisingly like the Kuriotates: One big city and a bunch of tiny cities, except that the tiny cities actually do something useful.

That said, they do have the problem that if you take their capital they will be useless for the rest of the game.

Hopefully under Patch D it is harder to take the Capital from them. We tweaked how the AI does defense a bit. Nothing was done with specifically how the Scions would play out though, but I had suspected that they don't actually do too horribly as a Civ, they just spam cities in the beginning instead of consolidating like a human tends to.

Max< Have you actually seen an AI with any real production outside its capitol?

Truthfully, I tend to play the Scions pretty much like the Kuriotates... I develop a handful of super cities, and the rest are there for territory, resources, and border security. The fact that the AI plays this way is a good thing in my opinion, because for the early part of the game you rely on spawns, and this seems to be the best way to balance that.

Edit: Also, the culture is most likely the fact that the Scions are being led by the Emperor... Choose him as the leader, and you gain a +2 culture building in every scion city, and can spread it to conquered cities with his priests... Might as well be a full fledged religion. :D

The main problem is that the AI doesn't develop a handful of super cities; it develops ONE. Their capital seems to be the only city they ever have above size 3.

Actually, anytime I run into them they have 3 or 4 cities above size 10, with their capital up to max. Might help if the AI could be trained to mass Legates when the Emperor is the leader, as they can create reborn through combat...

Exactly.

I can't define it any more clearly than that.

In my most recent game I ran into Korrina around turn 350. Her capital was size 9 and she had four more cities, each size 1. What the AI needs is to know to settle it's reborn in more than just the capital and it will be much better.

i havent been getting any spawned reborn in my latest scions game after 150 turns..........

EDIT: i should clarify that i havent got any spawn at all in the entire game and i have played 150 turns. i have 3 cities 2 size 1 and my capital size 3, but thats all from building the bloody things in my capital.

Don't we already have enough of 'AI can't do it the way humans do, make it work automatically/differently for AI"?

Besides, if you give it a random chance to increase a random city but generally have total population same as a human, you cripple Scions. Most of their cities exist for the sole purpose of 'Hall of the Covenant', nothing else.
