Screen out of range. need HELP

i got a new pc now and i have innstalled civ v. but when i try go into the game i get black screen out of range message. even in direct 9,10 and 11. its driving me crazy what can i do????

Hmm. So you have new PC and re installed Civ 5 on it.

Is the game up to date? It's possible there could be a bug if it's a vanilla version. I remember once getting a black screen when the cinematic was supposed to be loading and the game just crashed.

Did you transfer the files from your old PC to your new PC? Could be a conflict there if you have a new OS, say going from Vista to Windows 7

Did your screen resolution change?

And is it windows giving that 'Out of Range' error message? I've never even heard of that before. So I hope there are more tech savy people that me about that can help with your problem. If all else fails though, i'd recommend deleting Civ 5 and re-installing.

Search your computer for this file, which should be in my dicuments somewhere

graphicSettingsDX11.ini

Open it in notepad and look for a line that says

fullscreen = 1

Change it to

fullscreen = 0

Then save and restart the game in dx11 mode. the game should start windowed, at which time you can sort out your graphics settings to something suitable.

yep. installed steam and civ again. not old files. on my old pc i got that message only on direct 10 and 11. but now on 9 to. i got bnw and everything. i have only change screen resolutions one time on this computer. okey will try that for now. thanks
