Occasionally, the screen on my monitor will wobble (a bit like when turning it on) for no reason it seems. I don't know what's causing it, but it may only happen once or twice a day.

Warning: Next post is serious and I'm not joking:

For 2 days my screen started to wobble..... Right now the upper-left corner is wobbling.

No, nothing is shaking it.

I have a CRT monitor (for now...) but I don't have anything turned on near it.

I wonder if CH has this problem with a CRT or a LCD monitor.

Do you have any magnetic field source around the computer ?
When my cell phone rings close to the computer, the monitor does freaky stuff. :crazyeye:
I am not sure how else to temporarely wobble the screen except with magnetic fields. But when my comp arrived by train, i found out that the monitor stayed next to a ... smthing made of iron (calorifer:)). And the corner of the image was screwed. (but it was quickly solved)

If the problem persists you should demagnetize the monitor. (i have a demagnetize button) If you do not have one i don't know how else to do this...

My unprofesional opinion ^

It's a CRT. I don't think there is anything around that can affect it. It doesn't have a demagnetize button.

When I went to school the monitor screens sometimes wobbled. They were LCD. I was told it wobbled when someone was watching.

@Heretic_Cata: My computer is always near the "calorifer" (sorry but now idea how to translate it in English), but it doesn't always wobble. It's about 65 cm from it.

My mobile makes the screen do this every half an hour or so when it's searching for signals. Any nearby sources of radio waves?

:bump:
Cmmon, none of the "computer geeks and dummies" have any other ideas about this ?

This might be smthing too:
1) how old is your monitor ? (C H & Mirc)
2) is the wobble more obvious on the edges ?
3) what was the vertical refresh rate at that time ?
4) what is/was the resolution when it wobbled ?

My monitor is as old as my computer, so it's over three years old.
The wobble happens all over the screen.
Vertical refresh rate? Is that the same as refresh rate?
I use 1024 x 768.

So it's not very old ...
Yes, when ppl say refresh rate they always refer to the vertical one ... but i still think it is strange so i call it vertical refresh instead.
How much is it ?

:hmm:
Then it can't be a resolution/refresh problem. :(
My monitor wobbles a lot at 1024x768 kuz it can't do more than 60Hz. :( That is why i stay at 800x600... but the wobbling is annoying in games like civ.

It's all EM interference. It tends to be expecially bad if your monitor's refresh rate is set to 60 Hz, because electricity (at least in the US) has a 60 Hz frequency - so any electrical device that's too close will make you go insane. Any other source of EM radiation (microwave, radio, etc) can do the same at any refresh rate it it's close to the monitor.
