I set up my first game at 12:05 this morning: a quick game on warlord with all of the new civs and myself playing as China. I wanted to test a few things. Here are some things I've noticed so far:

Proof the AI knows how to use citadels and that they culture bomb. Atilla plonked one down right next to the Mayan capital very early in the game:

Proof the Chinese Chu-ko-nu's ability to fire twice in one turn stays with them when they upgrade to gatling guns. This one was upgraded early when it came across some ancient ruins.

A graphic of what the polders actually look like. Thank god they're not the eyesores we saw in preview videos.

And finally, an in-game screencap of the notification you get when Austria "marries into" a city state. Austria's farthest northwestern city is Lhasa.

So far, it looks like Austria's going to be the economic competition; Atilla and Boudicca are both the warmongers who will throw down at the drop of a hat, and Haile Selassie is my main religious competition and a devious sonofab*tch. That said, it's 4:30 am, and I've got a road trip in 5 hours, so I'm off to bed. I'll finish the game in the morning.

Does the AI get pissed off if Austria 'marries' a city-state? Do they think of it like Austria captured it?

It's a shame they didn't nerf unit upgrades through ruins. Seeing WWI era machine gunners in the 15th century is painful.

Other than that, and thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure, I'll have to play as Austria and get back to you. It doesn't seem like that's the case, though, since the city isn't puppeted or anything. I'm not sure if you're given the option to liberate it, or if it's like it's always been an Austrian city.
