Well to be fair someone DID *choughcivgencough* snag Zoey before I joined, I figured pyromania fit Francis. Though I do usually play as her (not that I think you should change the comics, they're fine and good).

Concerning SotS, the only way to not automatically wipe out planets that I've been able to find (aside from a treaty) is to start the battle and order your fleet to sit tight (or pull back to minimize planetary missile damage), then wait for the timer to run out. If you're lucky, you can peace out of the battle early, though I've not seen fully consistent behavior there.

Its Silent Hunter 4 with the Triggar Maru 1.9 mod. It makes the game worth playing and addictive. Nothing like coming up with a fire solution and them putting the fish into a ship.

I tried to peacefully solve it automatically with the two freighters, however, I also didn't know two freighters could MURDER half a million people or however many were in that colony (it wasn't very old). They only had the cheapest weapons too. Eh, I can now demand surrenders, the two Liir AIs formed an alliance against me, so I have one small fleet that took 3 of Purple Liir's colonies, they surrendered and I abandoned them xD Scorched earth ftw. My other fleet is still working its away towards the Orange Liir's other colonies, they don't use Node Jumps so its hard to find them.
For now though I am trying to get lots of armour, shielding, and weapon research done as fast as I can so I can start pumping out dreadnoughts.
Haven't figured out how to build a space station, but I have designed a few.

And here goes a long campaign against the Morrigi, which resulted in the destruction of their capital planet and several well-developed planets.
A murder of crows approaches!
My allies join in for this battle and we crush the Morrigi fleet between us.
This fleet is severely outdated, it was later destroyed entirely but not after destroying dozens of similarly outdated enemy ships until they committed updated ones. Though they are still nowhere near my technological level.
Fighting the Morrigi (ancient spacefaring race of avians), they have the ships with the thin, birdlike profiles.
Glassing the Morrigi's capital planet. Two billion inhabitants wiped out.
Fighting some Morrigi support ships, I had already wiped out their warships in that small fleet. First world I've come across with a background other than star-filled blackness.
Another battle.
I wiped out 78 enemy ships in this battle, and didn't lose any. Indeed, the Imperial Dolphin Fishers (there's a race of space dolphins whom I've been at war with the entire game) have only lost TWO ships.
It shoots asteroids. Incredibly impractical and possibly entirely useless to me, I'm going to build it anyways for the sheer awesomeness. Plus I'm drowning in more money then I know what to do with. Dunno how I'm going to use it, as my main fleet will have a lot of ships in it and you can only deploy so many at a time.
