Scrolling custom maps

Is there a way to disable east-west scrolling on custom maps? i.e., if playing a Europe map, it's possible to go due west from England to Russia. Obviously not possible in real life . . . On Civ II you could disable east-west scrolling . . .

. . . on another topic, what's with the little white monument/spire I see at the starting point when I start a capture the princess game?

That would be a victory point location. Fortify the VP location and you earn (umhhh...) victory points every turn.

No, there is no disabiling this. However, you can load the map up in the editor and creat a "wall of umpassability" Build two lines of mountains down along one edge of your map and separate them with a line of water tiles. This should stop the problem

it's present in all games with vp scoring allowed
