Secret Agendas... static or random?

So as the thread title says, are they fixed for each leader or randomized?

If they were fixed for each leader, they would not be Hidden Agendas. Even if the game didn't tell you at the beginning what their Hidden Agenda was, you would know after the first time it was revealed to you, and the next time you played and that leader showed up, you would already know what their "Hidden Agenda" was. The game wouldn't be out for a full day before the list of every leader's "Hidden" Agenda was available online. Including a Hidden Agenda feature in the first place would be rendered instantly pointless by making them fixed for each leader.

Can somebody explain why the hidden agenda disappears in the leader screen. Cfr last devs video (about religion). First was China's hidden agenda visible = " paranoid" (friendly) later after declaring war, not more visible. Why does it disappear once you already have covered it ?

You can only see it with an access level of "Open" or higher. When he declared war on Qin (@ 51:55 in YT version), the access level changed to "None". At the "Limited" level between those two, the hidden agenda is also not visible.

It's still lame to hide information you already know.

I hope hidden agendas don't conflict with leader agendas, making the AI nutty as a fruitcake.

Hojo Tokimune (Japan)
Agenda: Likes civilizations with a strong military, but only if they are also strong in Faith or Culture.
Hidden Agenda (Random): Hates civilizations with strong culture focus.

I don't think we have enough information to reach any sort of conclusion at this point, and I'm sure that the devs understand the potential problems of the new system.

They probably have a long list of random agendas for all civs, and a list for each civ if which ones are not compatible. Anything else would be stupid.

Maybe they also have different preferences so some hidden agendas are more likely.

I agree that hiding showed info is stupid.

That's actually not tooo bad, as long Hojo remembers that he doesnt like civs with strong Culture Focus first. He is then free to like you if you have a strong military and strong in Faith.
Also i dont think the Leader Agenda is so cut and dry. In the Norway stream Ed made a comment about how Hojo still disliked Norway, even though they definitely had a strong Military. He made some reference about no formal training or Encampments and there was also some comment about Cleopatra agenda only affecting Land Units. I do get your concern though :), it is not like CIV A.I's havent been nutty before :)

The Random Agenda's do seem less unique and maybe that is by design. The simpler the random agenda, the less likely they will clash with a more complex Leader agenda. Maybe they also have an ordering bias to protect against this exact concern.

I don't see how that is strange, considering Hojo's agenda. If i understand correctly, his agenda is that he dislikes people with a strong military, unless they are also strong in culture and faith. I think that unlike Cleopatra, Hojo doesn't immediately dislike you if you have a weak military, but he only respects you if you can back your strong military force up with a high culture/faith output. But that's just speculation on my part.

I do think however, that there should be measures in place to make sure Historical and Hidden Agendas don't contradict each other, because depending on what those Hidden Agendas are, it could be an easy mistake to make.

In regards to random agendas, we have seen Paranoid and Environmentalist, so far.

So you might get a paranoid France one game along with an Environmental Kongo and a Paranoid India and Environmental Japan the next.

Should spice things up considerably. :)

Ed did mention the culture/Faith component of Hojo's Agenda but they also mentioned the other things as well, whether that was just random conversation or other parts to the Agenda remains to be seen. I am sure once we get more Lets Play's with A.I Hojo it will become apparent

That is a very interesting revelation. I have only recently started playing Master of Orion 2(very good game btw) and there is an agenda based system like Civilization 6.

There was an environmentalist agenda in the second game in which the civilization would focus on terraforming the climate.
