Ok, after aquiring a SNES emulator and going a wee bit mad in downloading ROMS I've started to play potentially the best game for any 16bit computer. Anyway, got talking to a mate and blah blah blah cut a long story short went to google and done a search for Secret of Mana. Various fan pages cropped up but the name "Seiken Densetsu" also cropped up. What is stranger (apart from the fact I noticed a "Secret of Mana 2" ROM which was downloaded instantly) is that in Japan, Secret of Mana is refered to as "Seiken Densetsu 2"

Is it someone's name or soemthing?? Can anyone shed any light on this for us?

Thanks,

Steviejay

I belive "Seiken Densetsu" Roughly translates to "Holy sword" or something along that line. The series began with Seiken Densetsu 1, realeased as Final fantasy Adventure in the states (because FInaly Fantasy already had a strong fanbase, it's name was often used to help market similar RPGs.) Then came Seiken Densetsu 2, released as Secret of Mana, and was then follows by Seiken Densetsu 3, which was never shipped West due to a number of bugs and gameplay problems (Like "Magic Spamming," which allows you to cast spells one after annother with no delay between them, allowing you to masacre foes without giving them the slightest chance to retaliate.) It's still a good game though, and worth trying out.

That's about all I can tell you about the story of Secret of Mana, and I agree with you that this is one of the greatest 16-Bit games in existance.

You can still pick up Final Fantasy Adventure for the gameboy. its a pretty good game.
