Welcome to the Civ 3 secrets and references thread! Put all of the secrets and references in Civ 3 you can find here! Note: For clarity, only one reference per post!
Revolutions:
When you want a revolution, your Domestic Advisor asks:
"You say you want a revolution?", which is the first line of "Revolution" by the Beatles.
"No, you can count me out." is a modified version of"Don't you know that you can count me out", the final line of the first verse.
"Yes, you know it's gonna be alright" is a modification of "Don't you know it's gonna be all right", the first line of the chorus section.
I was thinking that this thread was more for information like this:
How Commerce is calculated:
• basic value : this of terrain, river bonus applying
• if city size = village : +1
• if city size = city : +4 if civ = commercial, +2 otherwise
• if city size = metropolis : +6 if civ = commercial, +3 otherwise
• if city = capital : at least 4
• if civ = seafaring & city = coastal : +1
• if government = republic/democracy : +1
• if golden age = on : +1

Commercial gives +2 bonus on city and +3 on metro? I didn't know that; I thought it was +1 all the time. Guess I've been underestimating it a bit all this time.
I don't have any contributions right now, but this could be a nice way to spread unusual knowledge.
