Sentry?

What does the option sentry do?

It'll wake up the unit as soon as another friend/enemy unit comes nearby.

I don't know if the sentried unit is in fortify mode or just 'sleeping' or even if there is a difference.

I think the "sentry" command will just put your units sleeping (wake up when friend/enemy units aproach) and not fortifyed.

I have the feeling that sentry units are fortified. Can someone confirm this? I observed, that if you have a veteran pikeman unfortified in a city and a cavalry is there, pikeman is shown (same def stat, but pikeman is cheaper) However if I sentry the cavalry, it will be on top. I am not 100% sure as I dont have the game on this machine, but I seem to remember so. This would mean, that sentry does fortify...
