Settling our lands

Our two provinces contain open spaces, perfect for citizens tired of easy life in cities to discover their spirit of adventure! The MIA does not believe in allowing squatters to settle as they choose, and so will issue land grants in specific locations. We are therefore calling for proposals for a master settlement plan for the provinces of Berry and Audiac.

When crafting your proposals, please be sure to take in account the distance from the Capital to take advantage of RCP spacing. Also, keep in mind that cities will have a focus, be it workers/settlers, production, etc.

Thanks!

Giving this a kick...

We've got a settler pair up in the north east that's looking for a home. Those blasted Germans settled in their spot! MoD - please take note and place that foul city on the List.

Where, however, shall we send this team? I strongly prefer a site that will finish off the Eastern line of cities, and at least slow down incursions into our territory.

In the image, the settler pair is the far northeast, and is the northern pair. I suggest moving them up one, and settling there.

Kick this up top.

Okay folks - once the upload server is back up, we've got some decisions to make on city placements. I've been too passive on this. I want to nail down a complete settlement plan for our currently defined territory. Furiey put a great map together for RCP considerations.

Please, make suggestions on this - don't just ignore it!

Since the server is fine, I suppose you have the save. :)

I see 4 prime locations: W in the the Audiac desert to block Egyptian expansion, the desert center at distance 9 to our capital, and 2 spots at the NE coast to secure this area (one on the river, the second on/near the gold hill).

Time to kick this up again.

Folks - POST YOUR SUGGESTIONS! I'm including maps of the East and the West. Please use those to indicate where you think cities should go. It's easy - just save the image, use Paint or the equivalent (or The Gimp!), put a colored dot in the square, upload and link.

These maps have all the possible sites I could think of on them to give a larger choice.

West:

Purple - Ring of 9 from Deux Rivieres, fills the desert, therefore the AI will no longer try and settle there.

Red and Green - Sites to try and squeeze out Egypt from our desert. If we want to do this we must do so before the Egyptian city borders expand.

Blue - Gives us a base on the Greek/Egyptian continent. Unfortunately we are unlikely to be able to build up the culture to get the incense with this city.

Yellow - Ring of 9 form Deux Rivieres. Prevents the Indian city from splitting our Republic.

White - A city to squeeze in if we want to try and flip the Indian city. If we want to do this it must be placed before the Indian border expands.

Highest priority of these - Purple and Yellow - with 1 more city on the East map these will complete our second ring of cities around Deux Rivieres.

East:

Black - Fills in the coast getting the whales.

Green - Completes the second ring at a distance 9 from Deux Rivieres.

Red - fills in the lake, eqiu-distant between Deux Rivieres and Groton

Purple - On Ring 5 from Groton and future FP. Prevents Mure from being seperated from the rest of our empire. If we're going to do it we will need to do it very quickly before the surrounding borders expand.

Cyan - On Ring 5 from Groton and future FP.

Yellow - squeezes in between the Russian and German cities.

Blue - Completes the coast.

Orange - On Ring 5 from Groton and future FP to use any missed tiles. AI will not settle here, so it could be filled in later.

Priority here depends if we wnat to keep Mure connected, if so Purple, if not, sites that the AI will settle.

That site is just outside Zariqum's and the Russian town's first ring. The AI will never settle there. It's considered "aggressive settling" and you can be sure the AI will see this as a concealed war-declaration. If you want sneak-attacks, aggressive settling is the way to go.

Not that I dislike the site BTW ..

In the west red and purple. Purple because it is close enough to Deux Rivieres to be a real asset, red to block further expansion of Egypt. And to serve as starting point in conquering the 2 Egyptian settlements.

Western green IMHO is a nono for now, because once we capture the Egyptian city by the wines, we have control over it.

Note this is from the screenshots only; my civ is busy gotming.
:)

Barring further developments, I'm going to poll the following sites:
WEST: Purple, Yellow, Blue, Red
EAST: Black, Green, Red, Blue, Purple

Poll would go up this afternoon. It will be a multi-select poll. The number of votes for each site will be used to determine the priority for settlements.

See my suggestion here.

An interesting idea. Given the time, I'll look at it for the next turn chat (not 510 AD) for MIA cities. Obviously, the cities in Audiac could start implementing it immediately. If you can contact CG, Berry might also be able to participate. I won't be in a position to evaluate this prior to the turn chat, so MIA won't be participating on this t/c.

I did not include any Berry cities since past attempts to communicate with CG have all failed. The only MIA city involved is Sanction; maybe you CAN look at it, especially since no instructions are posted yet.
