Setup problem - latest Adobe Flash not detected.

Hi all...

I bought a copy of Civ IV for my buddy but I've been wracking my brains for 2 hours trying to just get into setup.

It's the single CD edition for Windows, my friend has XP.

Once inserted the CD startsto enter setup, but then informs me that I need Adobe Flash to continue. The latest Flash (10.0.4) has been installed in the PC but I reinstalled anyway to no avail.

When I select the autofix it stops and tells me I need to download the latest version of Flash.

I'm not really sure what the communication problem is here but it's very infuriating.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to CFC

this game doesn't need Flash - I am not sure why it would ask you for it.
try copying all disc contents to one folder on the hard drive and running the installer from there.

I do not have any version of flash installed on my PC, and I have installed the game with no trouble. I have yet to see any instance of flash, either during the install, or on the autoplay menu.

Are you sure you have a legit version of the game? There is no "single CD" version. There is a single DVD version, which is sold in virtually every area except North America. There are a lot of pirated DVD copies for sale online, so maybe you got one of them.
