What's the hotkey for entering user notes in the log? Anyways totally normal TS. Things went along exactly as planned. No new AI met. Joao demanded one of our three fishes. I sent him some wasabi and rice to go with it. Now there was one odd thing. For some reason Stone's border popped much earlier than it should have for no reason.

I put a priest to work when the temple was built in Parma. t120 will be the timeframe for the shrine. Worker is hooking up iron and two workers are ready to come over for the mids chopathon soon.

Stoneopolis - brilliant! :D I suspect it popped early due to:
Confucianism has spread: Stoneopolis

I haven't checked the save yet, but it seems well played. One thing I have been thinking about it slipping in a trireme or 2. I'm not sure when barb galleys turn up, but we'll need some when we attack shaka as well. Losing Engineering's seafood would cripple it's wonder efforts. Marbles also, bt that's less important right now.

Blubmuz is gone for another 3 days or so, and Mesix said he can play Saturday. Do we want to slide another TS in before then? The course is fairly straight forward, get the wonders done, tech toward optics, etc.

Up next would be greatbeyond, or maybe Balth if he wants a go. Btw, Balth, what's all th commotion? Are you an equities trader?

Nice. Forge in 5, Quarry+road also in 5.

I suggest bother workers should both mine the hill 1S of the captiol first. That's on a river and will give 1 commerce along with the hammer. The Iron worker can finish the mine that was started on the PH.

All 3 workers should continue to level the forests around the capitol for granary, barracks and tons of macemen!

Lookin good!

I'm not comfortable playing yet, but maybe by next week. And no, I'm not an equities trader, but lately it feels more and more like it's my a$$ that's getting spanked when those guys screw up. Long story short: the state of Arizona is facing a severe budget shortfall due to decreased economic activity. Bad things are happening to budgets (and friends) and my mental energy is usually drained by the end of the day. :( [Insert venomous comment about our nation's incompetent political leadership here. :gripe:]

Ahh.. so you're a public servant. At least your job is safe. *fingers crossed* ;) Your nation's incompetent political leadership is causing me (and most people) pain also, so you're not alone. No problem with not being next, tho, always best to put RL first. GB hasn't posted in a while, which would put him in a similar position, so it'd be back to berserks if he wants to play before Saturday, otherwise we wait for Mesix.

So, Sweeta, what's the political leadership like out there on Io??? Signs are hopeful that we might be under new management soon here, but if not... :ack:

I would play, but I'm up in another SG. So maybe tomorrow night, I'll post a "got it" if I do play tho.

Will note that the joao's east coast was not totally fog busted so had the missionary swing by and finish it as I'm not totally clear whether that would matter with the west coast clear or not. I don't see anyway that confused doesn't make it's way to him for free now that we have the GLH. The missionary is napping in jaoa's capital with his 2 archers. Neither AI has any resources for trade that will help us. We can certainly gift something to shaka if we want to. No new techs were learned by the AI that we don't have already.

We may want to send the missionary up to shaka to spy and see if he's massing troops though. Worth a thought.

I like the missionary as a spy idea.

Your resource gift suggestion reminded me:
This is a good time to discuss how that BTS 10 turns of peace is forced on. If we gift a resource to Shaka does that guarantee 10 turns of peace? I know if he demands something and we agree, that causes the peace treaty. I'd love to activate that. An early attack by Shaka would hurt greatly. We'd lose all trade routes to Joao too.

Hi guys, i'm back.

Only a single TS played, the one by Culdeus?
Do you think we can risk Pyramids in a city other than capital?

And the ToA in Parma?

Good idea use the missionary to spy Shaka.

The 10 turns of peace surely works if you accept a demand, don't know if you give him some resource... but open a test and do it, we'll have a sure answer.

Now let me read all the posts, then i'll tell you my thoughts.

@Culdeus
the hotkey to enter user comments is "Alt+E"
When you're running caste and there aren't good tiles to work, the city's governor put automatically an artist at work.
So you got 2 cpt for being creative, 1 for religion, 3 for the artist.

Mids won't even take all that long and there isn't much else worth chopping besides units at this point. Mids at engineering would be a major risk. Get the forge built, the stone hooked up, and get to chopping. May take as few as 6 turns. Plus get all the mines in place for the unit production boom that's coming. Next TS should be thru the mids then we'll attack.

My question about Pyramids was ... a question, it seemed to me you was wondering to build them elsewhere.

No, in capital are just fine to me.
I also agree to finish the forge. By then we'll have the stone hooked, and mids will come in less than 10 turns.
We can also build all the GE wonders there, and keep Engineering for the GLib: a couple GS will be of help.

If ToA in parma will arrive at the same time mids in 5burg, we can consider to build it.
We're 8 turns to machinery, we can start build maces like mad.

I suggest a quick diversion to construction, for cats, then straight to Optics.

Tomorrow i'll update page 1.

@WT: I don't think a gift would mean 10 turns of peace. That'd be pretty exploitive, since you could give everyone your world map every 10 turns, and avoid wars altogether.

I used one of my saves to test this: you can't have 10 turns of peace by gifting techs or resources, the 10 turns works only if demanded.

But can try to demand a tech to Shaka

I hoped Engineering had become a religion :p

You mean it's not?

the state of Arizona is facing a severe budget shortfall due to decreased economic activity. Bad things are happening to budgets (and friends) and my mental energy is usually drained by the end of the day.

You may want to have a word with your senator about that... what's he up to nowadays? :mischief: All kidding aside, sorry bout your friends, that sucks.

Okay, this is NOT a "got it." Consider it a "maybe I'm willing to take it if no one thinks my PPP is lost in space." ;)

I *think* I have a handle on what is going on now. If you all still want to try to squeeze in another turnset before Saturday -- and if you help me correct errors in the plan below -- I'm willing to run ten more turns off the clock.

Suggested? Pre-Play Plan:
  1. TURNS TO PLAY: Finish 95, play 96-105, stop before ending turn 105.
  2. RESEARCH PATH: Finish Machinery, begin Construction
  3. INHERITED TURN: Cancel orders.
  4. BUILD ORDERS:
    • Fifthburg: Finish Forge (5t), begin Pyramids.
    • Parma: Finish Library (3t), begin Granary, then Barracks.
    • Marbles: Building Library (20t).
    • Engineering: Finish Library (3t), begin Granary, then Forge.
    • Stoneopolis: Building Library (40t).
  5. CITY PRIORITIES:
    • Fifthburg: Prioritize Hammers. Do not let pop grow to size 8. Work current tiles.
    • Parma: Prioritize Hammers & GPP (Priest). Keep food growth set at least at +1. Work current tiles.
    • Marbles: Prioritize Food until max happy (size 6). Work current tiles.
    • Engineering: Prioritize Food until max happy (size 6). Needs mine on hill 2S1E (& roads). Work current tiles.
    • Stoneopolis: Prioritize Food. Hook Stone first, then pasture sheep. Work current tiles.
  6. WORKERS:
    • Worker 1 (in Marbles): Load onto galley & move to Fifthburg. Pre-mine forest hills (river first).
    • Worker 2 (near Marbles): Load onto galley & move to Fifthburg. Pre-mine forest hills.
    • Worker 3 (on Iron): Move to pre-mined hill & finish mine. Continue to Fifthburg for Pyramid chops.
    • Worker 4 (on Stone): Finish Quarry (3t) & road (2t). Pasture Sheep.
  7. MILITARY: Move missionary to spy on Shaka’s territory. Park galley in Marbles.
  8. TECHNOLOGY TRADING:
    • No trades likely this turnset.
    • No trades for Agriculture or Archery.
    • Technology gifts? – None this turnset.
  9. RESOURCE TRADING: Shaka will trade rice, but we have nothing yet (maybe sheep later).
  10. CIVICS CHANGES: None this turnset.
  11. POLITICAL DEMANDS:
    • Give Shaka what he wants, including techs, resources, and/or convert to Confucianism.
    • Do not give in to any other demands that would require anarchy (religion or civics change).
    • Give in to all other demands for resources or techs.
    • Do not join any wars.
  12. FINAL PLAY NOTES: If any significant new unexpected event occurs, stop and consult the team about our options.

You may want to have a word with your senator about that... what's he up to nowadays?
I have lots of words for that guy... :satan:

Extra questions about the PPP above...

  • The worker on the marble island abandons the workshop immediately, right?
  • When chopping the Pyramids at Fifthburg, we're going for fast, right? That means chopping rather than mining or cottaging directly -- or are we mining/cottaging to chop?
  • Is there a better approach to the 20-40 turn libraries in Marbles and Stoneopolis?
  • I'm sure I'll come up with more before long...
