SGOTM 08 - Fifth Element

Back to the PPP, just to be clear.
Every city already knows what to build, and it was planned at least 2 TSs before mine.

If you have seen, in post #3 i deleted the built items, and left the "to do". It's not that one the place for the plan? isn't it?

Why in the hell are we building an harbor in Marbles with one angry citizen and not a single scientist at work? The planned forge not only makes happy that angry citizen, but also gives a 25% production, if you missed it.

The workers actions were set to max production (mines, chopping) and roads long time ago, to help the military effort.

The caravel lost exactly 4 turns of exploring thanks to the RNG which popped our GG in Marbles: 2 to go from the point to Marbles, load and unload for free, but 2 more to go NE, maybe 1 tile E of where the caravel started.

I stopped (ok, ok i extended a bit) before to start the actual trade activity, and 2 or 3 members decided to trade Machinery for what?
For something we can have traded with other AIs.

The paper thing was a clear mistake, no reason to :deadhorse: Berserks for this.

In other words: the plan was already there for the buildings, the units and so on.

What can i have added more?
I built mines, not cottages, but our bureucratic capital was working unimproved hills and we have a war... never seen a mace come out of a cottage.

Now, since everything seems to go too fast, better stop, define a long term plan, then go in detail for next TS.
Are we researching Astro to go to war with someone when we'll have a bunch of galleons or just for trade resources?
And what do we put in those galleons?

The AP is probably the quickest win from here but I have never successfully pulled off the vote, in my current test I got close but wanted to continue to see how the wonder builds went. I did use the trick described by Gosha in BOTM10, and so had the only standing to be elected and the necessary votes, I just had to spread the AP religion to the last two civs (1 city does it) I had the AP built and ready to win by 700AD (started late)

Ghandi has Theology and is probably building the AP. We could try to research and build but would probably fail. If we had planed it from the beginning it would have been a great VC to have in the back pocket. Once we take out Shaka and Joao nobody is likely to switch to Confusionism. We could have gotten a self vote whenever the time presented itself. Vassals will vote for you as long as they are not candidates.

Seems like everyone checked in except Sweeta. (I'll trade TS with you if you want. I'm just dying to stablize our economy.)

The AP is obsolete with Mass Media. If you want a diplo win, we can talk about that.

The AP votes keep coming after it is obsolete. I have had several games where both the AP and UN votes come up regularly.

We needed calendar to switch to astronomy. Needed it much more than construction (which we haven't even used yet.) Meditation has also allowed to to get a monastery already (nice build berserks.) It was a good trade. Perc is a bit behind the rest in tech, so a good choice to trade with.

I recommend that we save the Heroic Epic and Westpoint for a high production city on the other continent. It will be nice to crank out units once we get a foothold.

The trade also got us the circumnavigation bonus. +1 movement for all our boats will be a great benefit from now until the end of the game.

I have had MM and the AP and the vote kept coming.

I'm not sure we'll need to build another unit. (I exaggerate, but seriously only a few are needed really.) Riflemen can't take CityRaider promotions, but our CR II, CRIII macemen keep those when upgraded--making very powerful riflemen. It's considered a bug/exploit by some. We should be able to cruise thru the other continent and never lose a unit. Probably not even have to bother with siege units either. We'll need to crank out a bunch of police units for Joao's cities.

Maybe you have to build the UN then? I thought for sure it was just MM. Either way, we will build the UN and that vote is easier than messing around with the religious one. You'd have to make sure you're not self-voting, etc.

I can verify this, you still get the AP vote. I know you think UN is easier but in my GOTM35 game, I got screwed over by the other civs after playing a peaceful co-op game. See this link for details: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7363394&postcount=26.

I also realize that you are very succesful at the UN win. Perhaps I can learn a little. Played the right way, an AP vote counts on no one but yourself.

RE: our new GG. We may need to attach that to a unit with 17 exp. Making it 37 exp. Don't we need a 37 exp unit to build West Point? Or is it just 23 exp?
You only need a level 4 unit for West Point.

Mesix: How do you go about finding the city the wonder is in? Do you have to zoom in on the graphics and spot it? I know many of them are listed on the wonders screen if the city is one of the top 5 cities. But I'm not seeing the smaller cities w/ wonders.

I checked the wonders built against the top 5 cities and filled in the rest. I think only one of the shrines was missing. If someone can double check my work that would be great.

It would be nice to update the infor after each turnset to keep our eyes on the prize.
