SGOTM 08 - XTeam

Thanks, everyone.

Look forward to having you back with us next game, rrau.

Tempted to write something about horseshoes and hand grenades, but I'll imitate Cicero and restrain myself.

Lest we forget Nuclear Strikes, or something like that...

Murky completed last night!

They built 300 of 310 wonder points in 220 turns for an amazing score of:
1.363636...

Congratulations to them on an excellent game!

Congrats to all XTeamers on medalling!!! Another close, hard-fought contest. I must say, your early finish put a lot of pressure on us.

Thanks for your kind words leif. I guess you know this, but I must confess that we didn't actually build all 300 points worth, even though that's what Erkon and Gnejs wanted to do... That wouldn't have been nearly as much fun. :aargh::devil::whipped::aargh:

I read something in these threads a while ago that changed my perspective a bit. It said: "Wonders earned are much more satisfying than wonders built".

X-team, we may have a problem:

". . . the New Zealand government has handed the property rights to the traditional Haka Ka Mate dance, that is performed by the New Zealand All Blacks rugby union team before each match, back to the Maoris. This is to stop the misappropriation and culturally inappropriate use of the dance."

The All Blacks have a specified exemption to continue its use, but we don't. Perhaps we should get JT on this.

We could offer them lots of  or maybe we could see just how powerful that new little box under leif's name is?

We could offer them lots of  or
We could also offer them a :deal:
Or play diplo :cowboy:

Wouldn't count much on that little box. :p

That little box has me in the wonderment phase atm. :crazyeye:
A lot of folks have been doing yeoman's work behind the scenes to keep this all running. I have become most appreciative of their efforts. :goodjob:
Hope I can do half as well. :please:

"A lot of folks have been doing yeoman's work behind the scenes to keep this all running." Not surprised to hear it, but you will fill the shoes tightly.

Hey Xteam!

I have posted a comparison of our tech rates over in the Murky Waters thread. You might want to have a look. :)

Check out the Wonder Bumpkins thread.

AlanH's post in their thread:
AlanH said:
I've checked your submission, and your final save shows a wonder score of 140 on turn 368, 1948 AD. Your event log records that Delhi revolted in 1947 AD, and your victory was announced in 1948 AD. So I'm afraid you lost those wonder points :(
Talk about a tough break. Can you imagine? :cringe:

That is one for the SGOTM09 Planning Thread... :mischief:

Bad timing for sure, but they could have:
A) stationed more MPs there or
B) captured the cities around it to remove the culture pressure

This obviously wasn't their first revolt in that city. Check out this article about culture mechanics.

XTeamers,

So far we have 5 people signed up for SGOTM09. JimmyThunder hasn't been on CFC for a couple months. Mad Professor has probably gone native by now (a la Marlon Brando). Don't know if Killercane wants to join us again. Gator hasn't signed up yet (though he's been playing some HoF games).

With leif's approval, I've recruited a couple other players to fill out the team:

1) PaulisKhan is an active player in the HoF and has quite a few top Space Colony games. I don't think many of us have much experience here, so he should be a valuable asset. He's never played a SG before, but he's just joined one in the SG forum to get his feet wet.

2) Grover22 is a friend of mine from Chicago. He's been a player in several SGs in the SG forum over the past 6 months, and I play with him online a lot. I know he'll fit in well with our team philosophy of thorough discussion and scripted turnset play.

Welcome to PaulisKhan and Grover22. :wavey:

Grover22, you do need to sign up in the sign up thread. Alan requires that all players sign in personally in order to place you on the team.

Should be an interesting one. If you should find some time, please take the opportunity to read parts of our threads to see how we work together. Hope you enjoy discussion! :)
