SGOTM 10 - Xteam

@Gator: AlanH had a thing that compared QSC stuff among the SGOTM10 games... I think we might have done better... and truthfully, it's a phase of the game I need to improve as well.

I think that early war with the Dutch cost us in this one - perhaps more than we fully appreciated at the time. 'salright, we'll get 'em next time.

@Leif: I dunno if a spoiler is worth much at this point, now that so many teams can view each other's threads... but if it'll make you feel better I'll try to have a look at it tonight.

Well, we certainly missed the first one and that is my fault.

However, a summary for the final spoiler would be good. I used to go to the spoilers to determine which thread to read, although the score board does that as well.

If you have some time, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

I agree with that. And whether you avoid early wars or not is down to the RNG so not much to do about that. We got unlucky this time, but we'll be more lucky in another game

Okay... I'm not gonna look at the spoiler thingy tonight... because I worked my butt off this week, and was the bug more often than the windshield on a couple of counts...

...and because I wanna have a look at this 'murican GOTM.

Team Peanut just finished up... with Mathilda playing a nice endgame set... you guys oughta duck over there and give 'em a ... as they were apparently down to 3 players by endgame.

Thanks for the pm, Leif. I start a real job on the 11th, and if rumors about the life of a bottom-level associate attorney at Big Law Firm are at all true, I won't have time for the rest of real life, much less civ.

But it looks like lots of fun - I hope there's an XTeam to check in on every now and then!

You're welcome. Heh, at least you are working!!

Things are never as bad as they seem. Hope it goes well and, once your routine is established, you can find some time to rejoin us. Until then, please continue to correct us and keep us moving in the right direction.

@Leif: I'm in a bit of a quandry here... Whomp has asked me to join up with his crew for the next SGOTM... for SGOTM 10 he asked me literally minutes after Mistfit asked me to join in on XTeam...

Whomp's got Bede...and he's invited me and Bugs to join in. Aside from Whomp being a friend, Bede and Bugs and I go back a bit... I don't think I could pass on a chance to play with those guys.

I'll wait to hear what Bugs says... but at the moment I'm leaning towards joining up with Whomp's crew.

Hi Team! Thanks, Leif, for your pm. Gyathaar's scenario is indeed very very tempting, but I will be too busy with other things than civ3 (yes, there are such things ... ) in the next weeks (and probably months ).

Hopefully, I'm going to be more active again in winter, playing a gotm or two, any maybe joining a SGOTM, too.

But I'll keep lurking ...

P.S. Do I have congratulated you for not winning the spoon and the special notice you got on the frontpage? Well, then I will no longer wait to do so. It seemed to be a tough campaign and you had some bad luck, too, in terms of early war, IIRC, so for SGOTM X.

It sometimes takes a while to come together as a team. And there is also our legendary RNG luck!!
