SGOTM 10 - Xteam

PS. Congratulations on your victory. You're at 73% area and 100% pop, so you must have cleaned up at least 8% of world area in one turn to avoid having domination before the barbs left

@AlanH: Yeah... I founded several towns those last few turns, and several more on the last... spacing them out so they'd grab more than just 9 tiles where possible. :D

Okay... here's the "official" endgame bit of the log:

SGOTM 10 - XTeam - Endgame Redux

Pre-flight check: All I have to do is hit <Enter> to finish this up... but I've got my image editor up to grab screenshots. Can't you guys tell I love spamming up a bunch of screenies? :D I loaded my "endgame" save in MapStat, and it shows us at 152 tiles over the domination limit as the only remaining civ.

Now THIS is amusing...

...sort of reminds me of a play on a famous quote by some admiral:

"We have met the enemy, and it is us!" It somehow seems fitting for X-Team, does it not?

Playing through the victory screens...I back up the summary replay to show you guys how powerful the Barbarians were right off the bat. Even with just one town planted, they had about a third of the power graph. The Barbarian Guards probably did exist before Barbarian Stronghold.

Here's the World Map at endgame:

We ended with 73% of the world and a Firaxis score of 5796. Not too shabby... but we didn't get in-game "credit" for the domination win. I wonder if that affects the Jason score?

It doesn't matter... we're probably in the thick of it for a Wooden Spoon award...thanks to that stupid one-tile island. Of course, this also doesn't matter. I had an absolute blast in this game, and thoroughly enjoyed playing with you guys.

One of my favourite SGs was our RaR sid game, which we won with a 4-in-1 finish (SS, Conq, Dom, 100k), aided by the 'rabid monkey' gambit at the end, similar to what you just used. We discovered that somebody in charge doesn't like builders, as conquest trumped all the other VCs then too.

Nice finish Scout!! :trophy2:

Cool map, didn't realized you had settled so much. :D :worship:

Thanks to all for a great game. Anyone up for a redux, when the next one gets posted? :salute:

Glad you enjoyed the joke :D It was a bit 'spur of the moment', but it did seem appropriate :mischief:

How come evil always starts out stronger than good? :mischief:  :crazyeye:

Well, that does imply that we were good, doesn't it? :p

Well done, team.
Thanks for the game (the parts I got to play anyway  ).

Congrats guys on a good game, it was fun following it for some time

Had a good laugh about this. Only now can I comment. Yes good old Bill always had trouble getting along with the dominant power, be it king Philips 2 of the holy roman empire or captain Buttkick of the holy x-team.

Congratulations to the entire team on having an exciting game all the way through, and to Scout for an elegant finish that kept me on the edge of my seat...one turn at a time yesterday. :goodjob:

Nice finish Scout and a very fun game. It'll be interesting to see how many games the Barbs settled the 1 tile island.

@Scout - when your game crashed were you running C3C with an open internet browser? I've been experiencing some crashes like that after I installed cIV. For several months I had to restart before I could go online after playing either van, ptw or c3c. Then all of a sudden it changed. I didn't do anything different but now it only occasionally crashes with the internet open and I can go online after playing the earlier versions.

Scout's crash was simply because the pediaIcons.txt file didn't have a required entry in it. I fixed that with a modified file.

If you are seeing crashes when you have a browser open then either change your browser, get more memory, or change your operating system :mischief:

Yuh!! :scan: And let's see if we can guess what that recommendation might be?? :p

Well, I did offer two more palatable options first (specially to an accountant :p)

I've already done 1 (or 2) of the 3 suggestions. I've changed to Firefox as my browser since all this started and that helped alot. I'm already running 1gig of memory, so that should be good. Unfortunately too many of my programs require Mr. Bill's O/S.

But thanks for the advice.

Nice to have you along Willow.

@Team - Now we have one task remaining. The spoilers?

Anyone a particularly talented writer?

Wouldn't want Alan to :spank: us!

Hey Scout or leif,

Have you had time to surf the other teams threads? I haven't had time yet. I curious how they proceeded in the early game. I have a feeling that is where my game is still the weakest. Especially when I compare it to some of the regular GOTM 1000bc stats.
