SGOTM 12 - Xteam

St Petes needs a Aqueduct or Grocer, even Hoover will not keep it from starving. With proper health buildings here it can work the Iron mine and the other mine for +12 base hammers.
St. Pete's has a -6 health due to poisoning the water supply. Its health will return within 6 turns.

I think we need to get 1 of our troop builders on Marines for Stalin. We should be able to take all 3 cities in 1-2 turns with no losses/minimal losses due to nukes if we prepare properly.
This is true but I think we have a bit of time for this atm. Pruiority is England and then Gandhi.

Still need to find a home for Gandhi... :deadhorse:

I missed the poisoned water...that helps!

About Gandhi....are we sure he and other AI won't do a better job scrubbing if we get them Ecology? Could we just DOW MrG and move in scrubbing crews without actually committing troops to taking his cities?

Satellites would make counting tiles needing scrubbed a lot easier I think. Can we slot it after Super Conducters? Alternatively, Genetics gives +3 health in all cities, nice for us soon.

Are we sure that the AI won't scrub if we get them Ecology?
I'm not sure of anything, but it is strange that they don't scrub some more, there's hardly any workers left in AI territory. :crazyeye:
If we are going down the late game happy wonder road, then we should build Eiffel Tower for free culture and +2 or 3 happy everywhere.
Doesn't this require that we research Mass Media (which I don't think we planned to do) to get the Broadcast Towers?

Eiffel is available with Radio and provides FREE Broadcast Towers in every city, giving us +4 happy from the 2 planned wonders....now MM would be required for the last happy wonder if we need the +2 from it.

btw - Plastic Ducks must have finished as I saw Kossin posted in Fifth Element's thread. They are at the same date as us currently
That means Fifth Element must be done also!

Not a good idea, I don't think that's on the same continent as our mainland :crazyeye:, but maybe in Novgorod. Beakers from specialist are better than beakers from hammers, the latter not being multiplied!

Wrong continent......X-posted
Yea, that what I get by just looking at which city has the most hammers  What about Statue of Liberty in Novgorod?

Looks like changing Moscow from Research to Wealth right away would add a turn to the completion of Plastics, but I could change it after Plastics is completed in 1 turn.

Please remember the goal is to keep us somewhere around -200 gpt. You can shift around the cities for wealth and beakers to get the most out of them as long as we do not go much over that goal. :)

How many hammers is SoL? Pretty easy to figure payback if we just figure 25 free Merchants and know what the modified hammer input will be.

I missed this somewhere....

So -200G/t is the figure we believe we can maintain for the remainder of our teching?

20 turns will use up our current supply of Gold in the treasury. It is also the time when another Great Merchant becomes available. If we take down too many people, not sure where we will use him, but would be a source of cash for the final push.

Just took a quick look; not counting Moscow and the newly captured cities still in Anarchy, there are about 12 to 14 existing specialists that could be moved to Merchants, which would take us under -200 gpt.

As long as we can get 3Gorges done, maintain our -200 gpt and keep our troop levels where we need them to quickly hit Churchill, OK by me. :crazyeye:

SoL is 1500 :hammers: - but we get double speed production since we have Copper. 14 turns to complete in Novgorod.

So 750 modified hammers....25 merchants * (3 beakers + 3 gold) = 150output/turn, so payback of the invested hammers in roughly 5 turns pre-modifiers. That seems like a good deal from here!

Please work the Silver mine in Novgorod!

Will do, without the Silver Mine, its 15 turns for SoL!

I'll try and play a few turns about 1 to 2 hours from this post!

Played a few turns, Guangzhou has been captured, along with 179 gold & 2 Workers.

Mao wouldn't give up Military Science; I got 3 gpt, his World Map and got him to adopt Caste System with the Peace Treaty. Need to go back to 100% science next turn.

Trade Mission was completed for 2500 gold. GScientist and 3 GGenerals still in standby mode. Note that building Broadway & SoL is putting us above the -200 gpt goal.

My game notes...

Hmmm... I thought I had an autolog going, but can't find it

Attached is the interim save (not uploaded to P&R page)

EDIT: can't play again until about this time tomorrow night. Keep those suggestions coming!

Hmmm... I thought I had an autolog going, but can't find it
Look in the file path...see screen shot

Progress looks good!

Need to get units in place for DoW Churchill.

Keep teching!

Maybe build a few more workers. :dunno:

I'm not at all sure about the Statue of Liberty. I think Eiffel Tower is much more useful... If we have hammers to burn, go an build SoL, but once we have radio, Eiffel is a good wonder if we're going to build modern wonders!

I think R1 made a good case for SoL and running a slightly higher deficit should be OK if we make up for this later. Nice that you got Mao out of Emancipation - it decreased the unhappiness.

I'm more worried about the lack of progress in getting our infantry from Hastings to Nottingham and moving our galleons to Guangzhou. We have 3 galleons sitting idle in York. Time is running and I now strongly suggest that we build a fort NW of Nottingham to open up a channel for our ships.

The workers on the Khabarovsk island have not been pulled back. Why? We need them badly to improve the are around London/York where there are no workers at all.

Shanghai is neglected and is starving without reason.

Let me explain the attack plan once more:

  1. Move our tanks to Nottingham and York. These will be staging points for an attack over land. NO single move units here.
  2. Guangzhou and the fort NW of Nottingham are staging points for our naval attack force. All galleons, infantry and cannons should move here.
  3. Build a fort NW of Nottingham to allow our galleons to pass to Guangzhou.
  4. IMMEDIATELY start moving infantry back from Hastings via York, Nottingham ending in Guangzhou. EDIT: 2/3 of these forces go to the fort NW of Nottingham.

We cannot move through English waters with no Open Borders agreement, and Churchill is in no mood to give us one.

The only other quick option I see is to open up a channel between Yek and Tours by building two forts. The disadvantage is that it will require that we temporarily destroy a Workshop east of the Windmill SE of Tours.

edit - and then we'll need to build two more forts near Shanghai, between Shanghai and Beijing.
