If you don't forget, then you know when it started, because you notice it directly after the declaration of war. More difficult is to know when it has ended. As a general rule, it takes very long for War Happiness to wear off, certainly much longer than 20 turns. For the first enemy, it takes the longest. He gets the slot for Traditional Enemy.

When your population then starts getting less happy, is it the end of WH or the beginning of WW? I never know. But I know we aren't there yet.
 
Yep, our people are quite happy. :)

If they demand more happyness, there's still the option to get wool from Mongols for all our luxuries.
 
A temple in XX is gonna cost us 60s, thats the same as 2 settlers and the 2 settlers can cover 14 tiles instead of just 6 tiles.

But those two towns at RCP 7 increase corruption in all towns beyond RCP7, that's a lot of productive towns from EE (distance 8) on.
That's not worth those two towns that will only be doing some commerce - if they get a harbor.
Working these hill and horses tiles would be nice for DD and XX.

We might as well rush HE there if we get another leader... ;)
 
We can plant the settlers towards the end. I don't think the temple will pay off itself before the game is over.

I couldn't figure out how to do it in CA2, so I used good old paint :)
Just select the tile and press space ;)

But dot maps allow colored dots and annotations which might help discussing them.

Hi all,

Sorry I've been so quiet. I came back from our family trip and was instantly swamped with reallife stuff.

You all made great progress since I played, I didn't even think it was all possible. :worship:

Looks like we can no longer by things with gpt which shouldn't be a problem unless we need to buy techs.

We should probably regroup before going for the last zulu towns. Once they are ours, I think we should push all our current knights through zululand until they are tundra locked, then board the galleys that are nearly already in position to head for france. The rest of the GA built forces can start on Russia and work their way towards Babylon.

Some of the desert towns in the dotmap would be OK prisions once we have enough units to surround them, but I'm wondering if it would be better to leave that area unsettled to try and draw settlers from elsewhere. The best place to trap a settler is on a mountain so they can't settle.

With all the workers we have, have we started forestry operations yet?

If you can play on the weekend, that's just fine. No one would play it earlier anyway.
 
Looking at the save, I have made the following observations:
  1. AA will finish FP in three turns and should then build one-turn Horsemen for upgrade at 30 spt
  2. I suppose all those Pikemen are just pre-builds for Horsmen for upgrade, and that the road to the colony will be broken by the Scout before any of them finishes?
  3. Those cities doing 24 spt should of course continue with three-turn Knights during the GA
  4. Attacking Russia is overdue. Well, the troops must be moved into place first.
  5. I agree we should attack France A.S.A.P, then Inca behind them and the Iroquois and onwards on that big island
  6. At some point we must let the capital grow and get productive. At the moment, most tiles are used by other cities, thanks to the tight city placement. Perhaps after the GA, new tile allocations will make sense; 24 gpt should become 18-20, which can be reduced to 15 for Horsemen. So the close cities could leave productive tiles to the capital and use coastal tiles instead (possibly rush Harbor).
 
Ok, I could get out of the office earlier than expected and had a look at it.

There are still 4 Zulu cities to take. Isand.. I can still attack this turn. The army should move out of Zimbabwe. Flip risk is 10% minimum.

I would like to go for Russia with the army when it is healed. Meanwhile we should be able to take all the remaining Zulu cities with the knights that are on the way.

I need some help on the diplo side.

Should I renew the deal with Rome or not ?
Our deal with Russia against Babylon will end next turn. We will not want to renew this, right ? Before going for Russia which town do we gift to her ?

Do not renew with Russia as they are our next target

Do we have any more tundra cities?

If not we could always leave a single city for them or gift them one of the Zulu cities.
 
I think a tundra town is available (not looking at the save at the moment) and would be better than a zulu town. Zulu towns are At risk from Babylon which may stay at war with Russia.

IIRC the Rome deal was to get war happiness if they back out of the Aztec alliance. We declared on the Aztecs so they are not providing any war happiness. Re-reading through turnlogs, this fake war was started by PF around 1000bc? The alliance was never broken so Rome is not providing WH (obviously). Since we have about three or four civs providing WH and should have plenty of luxuries, I would think this deal could expire. Rome is a short boat ride from our mainland and leads to a continent that has more than one civ on it. They should be on the short list for next target.
