SGOTM 17 - Misfit Gypsy Nuts

A belated CONGRATULATIONS to the Mis-nuts!

I also think you have a very strong result, but all teams have been suprising me so much that I don't dare predict anything other than that I will attend more Evil night classes.:mischief:

Mmm not so sure... Could be 5th or 6th (or perhaps worse). Once teams have worked out the teleporting. It only took 6 turns once forces were in position to kill off Peter and Winston.

Pessimistic me.. ;)

I like my optimistic view better.

PD will beat us.

Kaku has to burn 27 cities in 62 turns to tie us, of those, 8 are in or through the maze. Then they need to get to Churchill. They jumped a scout in already, so they know how, still seems a long way to go.

Shawshank is at T136, not started on Qin yet and a little behind on techs. They don't know Churchill yet, they don't know Toku's territory yet. They still have a long way to go imo.

Xteam is at T156, maybe a bit ahead of Shawshank, but still fighting Sury also, and still don't know exactly where Peter is. I don't think they will beat us either.

Unusual Suspects is at T192 = no chance to beat us.

Phoenix Rising is at T174, no possibility of beating us imo, way to far to go.

Maple Sporks is at T214, our finish date.

Fifth Element we beat.

Think I would be more optimistic if I realised our finish turn. For some reason thought it was turn 260 ish not 213.. So perhaps a little bit better.. Need to rephrase that. It shows 263 on the turnset log. 213 on the BUFFY log. Seems BUFFY log is correct we finished on turn 214.

That's crazy that PD might finish almost 40 turns before us.

I haven't had a chance to read any of their thread yet, but they definitely did a better job of exploring the map early and had a plan very soon after incorporating bulbing to Astro while teching to Engineering. I think they jumped into Churchill's territory while there was still an unclaimed tile on his side of the ice, so then the close borders with him and get pushed just out of borders. Next jump will now go towards their new city, brilliant maneuver really.

The series of towns and forts along the central waterway is well planned out also, allowing reinforcements to Churchill's territory without having to march through the maze.

Mmm just realised were not safe from the wooden spoon!!! The lowest scoring victory not the slowest gets the wooden spoon.

Perhaps should have kept a few of the last cities instead of just razing on auto pilot!!

Looks like we beat US by 2 turns... Bit close for comfort.. Once the team have access to all the civs the game should be over pretty quickly. Well allowing for the game crashing all the time!! Still were numero uno at the moment.. :)

Congrats on the finish guys, in the end you pipped us by 2 turns.

You are also safe from the spoon, as you outscored us.

I know I posted our winning score but haven't seen anyone else. After winning the last couple of wooden spoons not sure I wanted another one..

We just wanted to medal mostly, we hedged our bets for too long keeping our economy going in case we needed paratroops. (my fault)

This did result in Cavalry and rapid conquest, if we had beelined Cuirsthe result could have been faster, but it is very hard to tell.

This was a game about scouting, and when you realised what troops were necessary.

I'm just checking in while on vacation.

Great finish Sleepless! This looks like a great chance for a medal. Fingers crossed.

Whatever happens, I'm really pleased with how we played. Thank you everyone :)

You helped steer a great course Aj! :goodjob:

The one area I see where we could have improved our play was in scouting. We could have scouted stone island sooner, and we could have run spies through the map sooner. Stone earlier would have allowed earlier Mids/Rep, and more spies early obviously better map knowledge. We also failed to see the potential water route all the way to Peter.

I think we played very well overall. That is the beauty of this game, always learning something slightly new. Minute little details can have exponential impact.

Looking through the threads, and PD might finish a few turns after us, depending on how their wars go!

Do you mean Phoenix Rising? or Plastic Ducks?

PD will beat us for sure, I now think Kaku may have good chance also, although I am having a bit of a hard time understanding exactly what they are trying to do with all the city gifting to Mansa.

Shawshank is also making fast progress, still not sure how they will finish.

PR I still think we beat.

XTeam is the interesting one for me right now. They have it figured out, just not sure if they can capitalize fast enough.
