Ok so let me just make sure i've got the plan here:

We're gonna research writing, not AH, because we're beelining aesthetics (?) as trade fodder and for the schwedagon paya (?). And maybe from there we can go lit and rush out the Great Library or National Epic. The Oracle is a lost cause since Goldmember & co already have some of the religion prereqs?

we'll have the fembot scout that weird railroad, and the warrior check out the floodplain & mountain barrier.

finally for builds:

1-5.) slow build worker, 0 OF
6.) revolt into anarchy
7-11.) slow build worker, chop finishes on 10, 8 OF
12-15.) second worker builds road 1W of cap then moves 1 SE of the choke and roads there. first worker chops again. cap builds settler for 3 turns, double-whip, 8+36+60+10 = settler + 14 OF into a granary.
16-17.) chop finishes, 1 turn into a granary working floodplain + wheat, whip again, 14+8+20+30 = granary + 12 OF, which could go into a warrior or barracks.

Khan already had the Oracle built. I believe all Ancient era wonders are spoken for at this point.

and yeah I like early S. Paya for the science boost & staying out of religious messes in the diplomatic scene. Might want to delay it so that our 2nd Great Spy is more than 50% done by the time Paya completes so we don't dilute the GP pool too much..

Also, first spy should be settled-- +3 and +12 vs. +4 from Scotland Yard.

i'm having a weird problem with my BUFFY install. i am using the admin account on my Win 8 laptop...

if there's no solution I can use my Win 7 Desktop, but there's a chance that it might crash -- I've been meaning to reformat but my wireless card is so reinstalling civ 4 could take some nights...

basically i can still play my turns but i'd rather use my laptop

Ok sorry to be such a nooblord but I alt-tabbed out to search for the auto save settings and civ 4 crashed. I had only changed the research and resolved the turn. I'll PM the referee before doing anything more.

did you hit end turn? if you didnt hit end turn there should be no problem i think, just try loading the save again.

to set autosave interval to 1, you just set MaxAutoSaves = 50 and AutoSaveInterval = 1 in your CivilizationIV.ini file. they're set to iirc 5 and 4 by default.

Correct: changing research is a reversible move, you can do it a hundred times without changing the game. But if you DID hit "End Turn", then you have added beakers to a specific tech which cannot be undone.

From the description sodavich gives, it sounds like he did end the turn and advance the game to the next turn before the crash. And there probably won't be an autosave because the default is every 4 turns (and if you already had it changed to autosave every turn, you'd be able to continue from the autosave after notifying us). Note, notify the game admins before uploading anything.

Here's what to do: Send PM to AlanH and kcd_swede describing what happened, what turn you were on, what changes were made since the last save, and whether you have an autosave for the turn or not. We will give you instructions on what to do.

Those instructions will probably be something like

Yeah all I did was change research from wheel to writing and cancel the warrior's automove order so he could be moved manually the next turn. I'm sorry I didn't know to adjust the autosave settings in the .ini itself. I hadn't had problems with this machine alt-tabbing civ 4, but I'd never used BUFFY on it before either. I'll send y'all a PM in the morning.
