SGOTM 20 - Unusual SuspeX

I had a pretty bad headache yesterday but I can play tonight and leave it to the next player. Shall I start the AP, and we might have a chance of finishing it at a good time?

Yes - I think we should start it, we don't really have a choice.

Also need to aggressively spread religions to all our cities and get at least 1 city for each AI in Hindu.

Other key items:
* work on a game plan for each HC. How many troops and how to transport for each (if you have time) and whether to keep or raze. This is probably the biggest issue.

* how to get to 35 cities. Since we wont be taking english cities we may need some more settlers. We may want to keep HC for this reason alone.

* Nappy should be straight forward. Would be nice to have Louis step hear and take him out.

* temples can be whipped once we have nothing better to build in a city.

Anything else?

EDIT: Lets try to balance between more Units and Missionaries. Not sure how many more units we need, but we definitely need more missionaries.

Depending upon how long it take HC's to come out of resistance, they only need Hindu spread to them as they have another religion already. That would reduce the number of Missionaries we will need. :)

if we have enuff units, build ap in copper. if we need to keep building units, then next best hammer site. if we need units, building ap won't be the bottleneck. transportation is.

If we spread Christianity as well, we can maybe get away with fewer cities. Some will obviously need to have 3 religions. Something like 24 with 2 religions and 8 with 3. So we should keep that option open and generate some christian missionaries when possible. I believe there is also a limit on the number of active missionaries per religion, so this will would help also. The downside is that conversion failure increases as more religions are present in a city. I think it is 9% failure chance per religion present.
 
There was a questionable remark about victory conditions you need to achive. I dont want to tell you how to play, and I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding you. So all I say is check your list for wrong assumptions, that cant hurt, can it?

Hmmm. Not sure if this is the comment on 35 cities or needing 11 more. It is clear that we can get away with less but means more than 2 religions/city. But just to go through again.

1) Take control of the Religions! - Only you (or your vassals) may own a Holy City.

* We have a plan for all Holy Cities and it is okay to raze some of them. So I think we are good here.

2) Bring them together! - Each of your cities has at least two religions. There are at least seventy temples in your cities. Each Great Prophet settled in your cities counts as four temples.

* Minimum 2 religions/city - okay. 70 temples - okay. Settled GP counts as 4 temples - I don't think we have any settled GPs, but if we get some we should settle.

3) Promote Equality! - You must adopt and stay in Free Religion upon learning Liberalism.

* Stay in FR in we get Lib. We don't plan to get Lib so we should be fine here.

4) End the Madness! - Make sure that all internal fights end! - Each nation can only have one free leader. At least one leader of each nation has to be eliminated or be vassalized.

* Cathy and Suli eliminated. Augustus vassaled to us. Vicki vassaled to Churchill. Nappy to be dealt with.

5) Prove that you are a worthy ruler! - You win the game in any way but conquest.

* we are planning AP victory. Dom land is a long way away.

It was probably about the assumption of needing 35 cities, but it's clear that we don't actually have to get that many. It would be easier to get 3 temples in some cities than 2 in each.

I did many dry whips of Islamic missionaries. It is not that easy to spread religions fast as you can only have 3 missionaries and several of our cities are 4 tiles apart so it takes one extra turn to move.

Yes - the 3 active missionary limit per religion slows spread. Getting more religions means more active missionaries, means quicker spread.
If we find any settled prophets in captured cities, note as part of the victory condition list so that we don't build more temples than needed.
 
Yes, we should probably keep the Buddist city as well. I manage to trap it with only 2 archers. Could be attacked by 2 cats and 3 elephants in 2 turns.

Agree on bringing Louis in. The sooner nappy is gone the better. Cathy is gone so we don't need to eliminate Peter.

Any city we keep though must get 2 religions. So don't keep anything that will require a lot of work to get a second religion.
