Changed research ro 0% to collecy gold for Masonry. We are 1 turn from BW at 100% research.

Waiting for decission.

Plan till settling:
t39: city works pig fish mine forest
t40 pig --> forest
t41 warrior ready

Settler: moves to pig, waits till t41
warriors: 1 staeys on hill, 1 moves to pig.:

t41: all warriors to the city, take screenshot. then move warriors toward new city.

Tecj: t39: 0% BW
t40: 100% masonry
t41: 100% BW

screenshot test:

Looks like I'm ok(ish) with screenshots, still not getting interface stuff displayed. I'd say settle 1S yellow and finish set once settled. We'll either get Gwall or we won't.

How about city screen screenshots? They are more important. Anyway I can play these 2 turns more. From t41 we must try GW fast.

I have corrected test game with correct land and now recreating turns. I will soon submit test

I play till city founding

OK i did it. Now pigswill prepare for some barb fun :D 4 warriors around ;) but i dont think it may do any harm to us. All warriors in Rome can move.

PMed BSP to accept city founding, screnshots attached:
population 4
warriors 4
buildings: palace + LH
REAL GAME save also attached

Quick whizz from test. Gwall T56 (double whipped galley and barracks). Lost stolen worker/warrior to panther. No losses to barbs, no barb pillaging.

Can we whip worker instead using high food it should be faster. Anyway great date. We should play asap to bronze to see if copper available

Can we move just 1 turn forward to see if copper available? Just move 2 warriors on a hill and let us see where is copper.

Another couple of tries. First one Rome and Antium destroyed by barbs. Second one pig pillaged, stolen worker survived, Gwall T60. Its a bit unpredictable, we have a chance of Gwall, we have a chance of annihilation.

edit:cross-post with enKage. Barbs are highly unpredictable, can be easy or horrendous. I'm wondering if we need to build another warrior in Rome before anything else. I'm also thinking it might be better to chop two tiles than chop and mine one tile. Position of copper is fairly irrelevant short term.

In my test I used pigs to grow Antium to size2, then used mines to constantly produce warriors there. I also used high food for overflows from worker whips.
I think that generally after we survive 1st wave we need 1 warior SE, one NW from Rome and 1 around Antium beside garrisons. The barbs we can see are easilly annihilated. We just need 2 warriors in Rome just in "case" and move 2 others to the hill. Then move 2 to Antium. Take 1 from Rome after killing 1st barb and fortify on the hill to take a hit from barb coming from north. If both warriors survive in Antium (they should), retreat healthy one and fortify on pig.

-----

Because your plan is doublewhipping galley instead of workboat, I can see a place there for a warrior in Rome, while Antium is growing on pigs.

Copper on one of our workable tiles would change worker priorities and could have some impact on how quickly we can get GW. Even so, it's a relatively minor adjustment. Of course, if axes and spears are available to build that also gives us some different potential combinations for whipping. I guess I'm talking myself into going for that extra turn to finish BW.

Hmmm tried enKage plan. Lost Rome. One warrior in a city leads to lost city. Has anyone else tried a playthrough on current test game? One playthrough isn't really enough to get an idea of the randomness of outcomes however, two or three is better. Maybe I'm missing something.

Grrr impossible to lose Rome in 1st turn with 2 warriors there ;/ OTOH we can spent 2 turns for warrior in Rome too, just to have one to fortify later on foresthill SE

Anyway, I'm fairly convinced that its impossible to actually plan micro over the next 15-20 turns. There are quite a few 1:1 battles, odds more than 50% in our favour most of the time but less than 99.99%. We could get away with no tiles pillaged and T56 Gwall or everything pillaged, Antium razed and no workers for T62 Gwall.

Its possible that we could get beaten to Gwall but AIs could instead build SH, Pyramids or ToA.

I've got as far as build warrior in Rome (2 turns), revolt to slavery, build Galley to 19h then double whip into Gwall. Slowbuild warrior in second city focussing on food to pop2 then warrior>worker. Everything else we'll have to play by ear.

I agree. green light for warrior first in Rome and revolting after that. Have you considered worker whip instead of galley whip? High food should work on its favour and 2 more hands for chop is nice.

Anyway this set should be played in very short parts :D

I do agree that planning the next 15 turns is pointless.

I've played the test game 5 times. I never lost Rome. I did lose Antium once, and the worker once. I think it's worth mentioning that there's no random seed on reload. If you lose a 90% battle and reload and make the same moves you will lose it every time. I think it resets if you exit the game and reopen it.

I didn't need an extra warrior from Rome, but I won't object to it. On T41, I sent the warrior with the promotion toward Antium, and one other to the forested hill 2N of Rome. It's nice if there's a spare warrior that can fortify on the mined hill. That tends to keep the pigs from being pillaged.
